I've a relatively new MITAS C-02 CROSS and the tread is pretty deep.
I'll try and do as KnackeredMK1 suggests, but I think leaving the chain, as is, will be too long for the snail adjuster.

I've spent time today trying to fit disc covers and new chain/sprockets, which I got from LT last week. Cost an arm and a leg. The covers were fitted without problems apart from having to drill and tap pads for the rear cover.

You can get rad shrouds from LT I think about £15 but check.
Before spending any money make sure that you can register it as that may be a real ball ache. :(
