Re: Mk2 expansion pipe bolts

Thanks for prompt reply. There closed that's a relief. I do have a small stud showing but no thread on it. I've tried heat, pliers and socket but it won't budge at all. I was looking at a screw extractor but don't fancy snapping one and leaving it in the bolt. I'm probably going to center punch and ...

Mk2 expansion pipe bolts

Hi, can anyone confirm that the 2 bolts that connect the expansion pipe to the engine are m8 x 1.25 and are the threaded holes closed? As I'm wanting to drill out the bolt and the possibility of having to use a holicoil without metal shavings going in the crankcase and messing up the engine. Any hel...

Re: Headlight

You don't need a working head light to pass an MOT. Put a bit of tape over the lens and it's a pass, just until you get the headlight sorted. Plus a standard mk2 light isn't that great at night anyway.

Re: Crank seal sizes

i dont know what u mean by revs out alot but if its hard to start and wont tickover it sounds to me like the carb isnt set up right. i carnt see it been leaking crank seals. but check to see what condition there in as there only about £10 from leisure trail. first thing to do if you havnt allready d...

Re: temp problems

if the temp light is coming on it could be coolant problem, air bubbles trapped, water pump not working or maybe running lean. check the coolant level on the expansion/header tank and in the radiator. you might want to drain the coolant out with the drain plug on the water pump. you could flush some...

Re: throttle cables - adjusting 'em and stuff - idiot guide pls

if the fuel is that old drain the feul tank and put fresh in. also drain the carb small screw at the bottom. but really if you have left fuel in for 2 and a half years your carb will most certinally have varnished up and cleaning the carb will help best thing to do is take the tank off and rinse it ...

Re: Carb removal/overhaul/refit

hi you can buy manuals from leisure trail for about £8 i think. but you dont need one. its really easy to clean out the carb. all the screws only go in one place and there isnt much to them. all you need to do is loosen the two clamps on the inlet manifolds (carefull with the mailifolds thouse bits ...

Re: throttle cables - adjusting 'em and stuff - idiot guide pls

hi yes you could put some lube on the throttle tube as it might be sticking to your bars. always check the easy and cheapest possibilities first before messing about with things like the carb. you could take the throttle grip off and see how the throttle moves without the grip. if i was you i would ...

Re: throttle cables - adjusting 'em and stuff - idiot guide pls

could it be the throttle slide in the carb sticking i had this problem and i pulled the inlet manifold from the carb at the air filter slide and see if the slide is moving freely when you open the throttle.
