 i,ve got a 92 mk2 import. (i,m located in australia) the light on my bike is original but has what i've been told is a \"semi halogen bulb\" this light leaves all my mates xrs &wrs lights for dead. (dual head lights as well) i'd never heard of these bulbs before but the bike shop tells me tha...

knocking & lumpy idle.

:?: i'd be inclined to think there could be a problem with main bearings. maybe by pulling the clutch in might take end float from the crank, therefore stopping the knocking. this could also could affect the 2 outer crank seals( these need to be in good nick in order for the bike to run tip top) thi...

:!: have you checked the opperation of the dreaded \"ole power valve\" ? if not , remove the rc cover , start the bike ( & warm it up of course) slowly bring the revs up & watch the lever ( the one with the two cables attatched) & check if it's moving up & down in relation with the revs. if not you'...

brakes

:!: yeah the brakes on these things are usually pretty good. if you can bleed fluid through by squeezing the lever, i guess it would have to be a sticky caliper piston or caliper slides. (try a bit of molydenum disulphide grease on the slides) i,m fairly certain the xr 400 front calipers are the sam...

re; footpeg upgrade\\ exhaust\\plastics

gidday paul, got the part number of the expansion chamber but theres nothing on the muffler. the chamber number is : ph 98250 cp platignum series. the system was on the bike when i bought it. this system seems to give the bike a fair bit more top end & a little bit more botton end. ( compared to a s...

gidday paul, i've got a mk2 1992 crm & the footpegs are pathetically small. one of my mates has a 2001 xr 400 & they are double the size pegs on mine. could'nt find any second hand ones & new ones start at about $70.00 aus each so i enlarged mine by welding a strap of flat 32mmx3mm steel in a loop a...

re; dissassembly of forks on mk2

:D gidday booma, when you dissassembled the forks did you undo the the soft/ hard adjuster form the bottom of the fork leg. ( it,s usually easier if you use an air gun/ rattle gun) after this bolt is removed, it,s usually as simple as slightly sliding the shaft into the body & while gripping the upp...
