my fault for not looking!
with some bikes the slide has a cutout opposite the long groove for the pin, hence you can accidentally fit the slide 180 degrees out and find the slide is permanently at full throttle.
i'll check mine next time!!!!

Hello mate
Have you put the throttle slide in correctly? I remember when i was a sprog with my little Honda MB50, when i replaced the busted throttle cable, i put the slide in the wrong way round, and had exactly the same symptoms.

Bargos, If you have bought general bike/car engine coolant then it doesn't matter, neat or diluted, it will run ok. you only need to dilute the \"nasty\" ones that are used in racing cars , aeroplanes etc, cos of the ingredients. remember shop bought coolant is usually designed to be put in neat for...

bargos, give me your e-mail and i will send the pattern.
i don't think I'll be able to get many made, as the lads did it as a favour for my old man that they owed him, and they are gradually getting shut down as they aren't needed so much at the works. sorry folks.

DC here's the explanation. :o :o just like a mountain bike, a bigger cog at the back makes the wheel easier to turn, hence lots of wheelies. cos the wheel spins quickly more easily, then it cannot get any faster as engine gets faster, hence low top end. the opposite is true of a smaller rear sprocke...

ducks right, mk1's and 2's have the same chassis parts (wheels brakes etc) as more \"modern\" xr's 250 & 400's. i have checked out a 2002 model xr 400 in a local honda dealer and confirmed this myself. they have exactly the same drive cable and speedo!!

my Mk 2.2 does the same at LOW revs, ie in 3,4,5 or 6 gear, and you throttle off for a while and then throttle up without changing down. no probs with the bike though. my was this: I fitted a 50 tooth rear sprocket! problem solved no noise!!!!
