Re: will NOT start cold, easy start hot. What's going on?
Thanks knackered, I'll try tracing the ignition circuit. any more specific idea on where a bad connection might be? Is there any specific kicking technique with regards to CRMs? I use the "choke on, no throttle" approach when kicking it. I'm no stranger to kick starting 2 strokes in general, my prev...

Re: will NOT start cold, easy start hot. What's going on?
[quote="superbob"]I would check the plug and change if its gone bad also I would look at the choke on the carb and check its working correctly it could also be worth turning the fuel tap of when its not in use as I believe this can lead to bad starting if you are still having trouble it could even b...

will NOT start cold, easy start hot. What's going on?
OK, unfortunately with my CRM mk2 I've had nothing but hassles since the day I got it. For a long time it just wouldn't start 9 times out of ten, kicking or bumping, and was fouling plugs when it did eventually run. The carb has just been overhauled, jetting set, float levels set correctly, lug repl...

Re: Dead mk2... Electrical?
Knackered, I could be wrong, i'll check tomorrow but I seem to remember the oil reservoir being bone dry, not a drop of oil in it. John, yes he said the servo motor was kaput, so he left the powervalve permanently open. I'd like to sort out both issues, obviously.. get the powervalve working, and oi...

Re: Dead mk2... Electrical?
Regarding Mike's Q, the bike has not run well at all since I've had it, which has been a rather short time. Before now, the biggest issue was actually getting it to start, which has finally been achieved. I'm not running on premix by choice, but by necessity. I was told by the mechanic that the oil ...

Re: Dead mk2... Electrical?
Ok, update. Got my bike running now. I changed the spark plug, drained the tank (the mechanic had put in 20:1 mix),put in premix to 40:1, adjusted the air/fuel screw to 1.5 turns. the bike is starting easily now and everything electrical is working on it save the side stand switch and neutral light....

Re: Dead mk2... Electrical?
It was a bit of a screw up - it was obvious something was wrong with the bike the day it arrived, but I was overseas when it arrived. My friend took delivery of it and sent it to his mechanic thinking it just needed a tune up. The mechanic didn't get back to my friend until 3 weeks later. Only after...

Re: Dead mk2... Electrical?
Thanks Eddie
Yeah must be the kill switch. The sidestand switch on my bike seems to have been removed.
I'm intending to use this bike as offroad only. How difficult a task would it be to have it rewired completely, bypassing all the road stuff and lighting?

Re: Dead mk2... Electrical?
Thanks Eddie. I think it must be the sidestand switch as the killswitch was just replaced.
Where is the sidestand switch located?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a mk2?

Dead mk2... Electrical?
Hi guys Spent a while reading through this section and the FAQ. I have a hint as to what the problemS with my bike could be, but let's see what you guys think. Got a CRM 250 mk 2 from a dealer a while back. It came from the other side of the country so I wasn't able to see it in person, but I was as...

N00b from South Africa, hi!
Hi guys
I've just got myself a mk2 CRM. Unfortunately it's not running now... I'm sure it'll be a great bike when it is! It's my 2nd dirt bike ever (first was a horrible old aircooled DT125), but I've ridden street bikes for many years. That's all for now, folks..
