Re: long range fuel tank

I remembered getting in touch with these guys a few years ago...

http://nomadtanks.com.au/

ISTR that tank 4 was the one I was interested in & it was around £80 delivered... I liked being able to keep the bike otherwise standard.

Re: Mk3 - bike runs but the indicators, lights & horn don't work

Update: Well the replacement headlight relay went in this evening & all is now working as it should be... It was a surprise to find all the lighting power being routed through one relay like that.

Thanks again for the tips - especially liked the battery one :-)

Re: Mk3 - bike runs but the indicators, lights & horn don't work

Thanks a lot, gents. The PP3 trick will make it a lot easier to check, without having to kick it up everytime I need power... I've checked the little 5A fuse & the capacitor is plugged in correctly but, if my research & wiring diagrams are right, it doesn't make any difference as power goes around i...

Mk3 - bike runs but the indicators, lights & horn don't work

A bit of a pain with no battery to power everything, but I'm unsure where to even start checking for whatever fault it is that's causing my CRM to be able to run but not power the lights/horn Anyone got a suggestion of possible causes & how to test them, please...? I've got a chance to go green lani...

Re: Flamin swingarm!!!!!!!

I was riding in Wales a few months ago & 2 guys had the same problem, in that their chain was knocked off the rear sprocket by an underwater rock/hole combo. In both cases, the chain flipped up around the front sprocket & between it & the swingarm. The first was sorted by a big guy stepping up on th...

Re: to o-ring or not to o-ring?

My last 2 chains were a non o-ring, followed by an o-ring. The first cost £10 & lasted about 3 rides, the second cost £25 & has lasted over 12mths, with less cleaning/etc. The plates don't rust together when you wash the bike & put it away... :-)

Re: maximum rear tyre size please

I've run a 140/80 Michelin & Bridgestone before now. I think they're the biggest size you can fit with decent tyres for off-road.

Re: Sat navs

I'm using an old Garmin Quest on my CRM. Advantages: It's small & runs on its own internal battery for up to 20hrs. It's fairly robust (waterproof & solid state circuitry so shock/vibe proof). You can buy an external aerial for it for £5 from Halfords at the moment & that gives miles better receptio...

Re: crm mk3 footrest

Mine arrived today & I've just spent 10mins fitting them (& that included greasing everything...ahem  ) They aren't perfect as they are angled backwards, very slightly. When I get a few minutes, I'll have a go at them with my dremel & they'll be spot-on. They just need a small amount of cuttin...

BMW GS - favoured steed of most overlanders. Shaft drive, reliability & comfort combined with plenty of luggage options & off-road capability.

Seemed to work well for Ewan Macgregor & Charlie Boorman.......but then, I'm biased.
