Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
I think it's a terrible mark up, I'm wondering why LT get such a good rep, I can see that it's convenient that they carry quite a few CRM bits in stock, but it seems that David Silver can get all of the bits I have wanted so far for as much as 40% less, just that I might have to wait a week. The pri...

Re: Frame powder coating
I agree Eddie, Powder gives a nice finish, although if I had been painting it would be by gun rather than hand.
Either way, it's another job I won't have to worry about for £50 or so extra, I had another quote back just now for £150, so seems like £100 is as good as I'll get it for around here.

Frame powder coating
What seems to be the going rate to have the main frame & subframe powder coated? Its been a bit hit or miss getting quotes around me, a few places didn't get back to me, another quoted £120 + vat. Just had a quote from a one man band powder coater who a few guys at work have used and he said £100. S...

Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
Glad I was sitting down when I got the quote back from LT: 90161-759-000 Swingarm bolt £24.82 90305-GE8-003 Nut £4.52 52144-KR8-005 Dust seal £7.95 EACH David Silver can do the bolt for ~£14 although it'll be a 7 day wait. The nut & seals were a good bit cheaper also, even Lings sell the swingarm bo...

Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
Yep, they're the ones Nkd. I'll buy one from LT for the good side and for the cracked side i'll make a solid version to press over the crack.
Should stop it opening up then.

Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
Found a pic of an XR400 one, looks like a rubber dust cap with a metal washer on outside face.
I'll order one from LT and make something suitable for the repaired side

Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
Mike - that's part of the problem, I don't know original dims as I don't have any  Plus, the length will be a factor as the seals sits on the shoulder of the swingarm, which then has to fit between the inside faces of the frame mounting points. I assume the outer seals take up a little bit of ...

Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
NkdMk1 - yeah, the lip that sticks out the end of the housing where the seal would fit over. The guy that stripped teh bike had left a part broken shell in there, so suspect he had some trouble getting it out. I pressed it out yesterday OK, although it was fairly tight. The crack is very small and l...

Re: MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
I haven't called them yet!! I was more interested in size & design, I have a small crack on outer lip of bearing housing on the swingarm, possibly caused by previous owner having trouble getting spindle out. Wasn't sure about repairing/welding it, but a workmate suggested pressing a steel sleeve ove...

MK2 swingarm outer dust seals - Honda specific?
Does anyone know if the outer dust seals on the swingarm (52144-KR8-003 or 005) are specially made for Honda or a run of the mill dust seal/cap?
Does anyone have a non Honda part number for them? I don't have any to measure or take details from

Re: And so it begins.......... Mk2 rebuild
Not loads happening at the mo, been away for a few days and had other stuff on. Stripped and cleaned the carb in an ultrasonic bath, looked to be clean internally anyway, but was pretty shitty on the outside. Jets looked to be clear. There is the odd o-ring missing and the float bowl gasket has gone...

Re: Fork decals - guards & uppers
I thought the same when I saw them, but when I read the description on another listing it said they were on a clear background. Oh well!!

Re: Fork decals - guards & uppers
Yeah, although they aren't actually on a background, they are just the lettering, same as the others I found on ebay. I think I'll just use some of those but put a vinyl base down first.

Re: Fork decals - guards & uppers
Cool, thanks for that.
I think with the Showa graphics I'm thinking of, it might be that a black vinyl has been put around the fork upper first (between lower yoke & end of upper), then the red Showa decal fitted.
Think I'll just do something similar :)

Fork decals - guards & uppers
I'm after some Showa decals for the uppers on my MK2, can anyone suggest which they have used? I searched on ebay, and only two hits came up from Thailand which looked like just Showa lettering. I'm sure I've seen some that are like a black or grey wraparound with Showa in red. Likewise, I'm after s...
