Re: My last stupid question - (for this month anyway!)
Thanks for the quick input guys - will take your advice as usual Mike, nice idea with the sponge!
Will try and take some photos next Saturday on the ride, should be awesome. Last week on a short ride we came across a Black-backed Jackal so next weekend who knows what we'll come across?
Thanks again!

My last stupid question - (for this month anyway!)
Guys, some advice please.
I've checked FAQ's and technical etc, there seem to be different opinions on this one:
Because I do a fair amount of water / mud / river crossings, should I
a) Re-route overflow pipes into the airbox, or
b) Re-route them up to a higher level but NOT into the airbox?

Re: What is the little wire on the coil? Earth??? All SORTED!
Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies. Yesterday I checked and cleaned all the contacts again and was getting a nice strong spark at last! Put everything back together & she started first kick - YAY!!!!
This morning again no problems starting up so I went to get a new rear tyre fitted and hammered her ...

What is the little wire on the coil? Earth???
Hey guys,
I did check FAQ's so excuse me if this is a dumbass question that has been asked before:
What is the little wire (green / yellow) that clips onto the coil for and where the hell does it go?
I had the bike cut out on me and wouldn't start for a while, then fired up and went ok for 2 mins ...

Re: Long shot - guys in South Africa, where are you?
Not to worry buddy, will post some nice pics when I get out there - really is awesome out there.
Might be a while though, the bike is acting up all of a sudden?? Cut out on me yesterday and took a while to kick back to life, then died again near home so I decided to do a bit of a service. Changed ...

Long shot - guys in South Africa, where are you?
Hi guys,
I'm looking for members in South Africa (Gauteng mainly?) wanting to get together for a ride now and again? From where I am (near JHB airport, just off Pomona rd) it's straight into the fields / bush and you can literally ride for miles either on tame dirt roads or (more fun) trails through ...

Re: Another howzit from South Africa
Hey buddy. Sounds frustrating!? I know what you mean about local bike shops though - they're clueless with CRM's. Maybe it isn't so serious though - why not try the cheaper route of stripping everything and cleaning etc.? I don't know what happened with mine but cleaning seemed to sort out whatever ...

Re: Another howzit from South Africa
Hey Chris. Marcus here, also from SA. Where you based buddy, I'm in Kempton Park - 5 mins from the airport. Let's keep in touch - like you said, finding parts for the CRM in this country is a nightmare. I'm looking at sourcing some bits from Taiwan through a buddy of mine there. What he can't find ...

Re: Mk3 running issue
njhardy, you are a friggin' LEGEND!!!! Who would've thought it could be so simple? I've been fiddling with the carb settings as per the recommended specs etc and it was a bit better but still cutting out. Was just on my way to get carb cleaner and get down to stripping it all etc, but luckily ...

Re: Mk3 running issue
Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'll give it a go as you suggest - just with a bit of choke to start up then turn it off and keep blipping it for a bit to see if she idles after a bit or take it out for a quick run straight away. Keep you posted....

Re: Mk3 running issue
Hey Mike, could that also be the reason for the problem I'm having? The other night when I checked the bike out before buying it, she fired up easily. Yesterday morning I topped up fuel & oil etc then she was a cow to get going. I checked previous posts and advice etc and eventually got her started ...

Re: Newbie from South Africa
Thanks guys. Like I said, I wanted it to play with in the bush etc so wasn't too fussed about looks until I saw some of the re-builds / projects on the forum. I'll fix it up a wee bit, but the main thing is that she runs ok.
The bike arrived yesterday (YAY!), but too late to take her out a bit. I'd ...
