Oil level sensor question

I purchased a new oil level sensor and it came with a clear plastic tube over the float, do I leave that on or is that just a protective cover? The one I pulled out didn't have the cover, it was also bound up and not sliding up and down. I had to change it due to massive leaking. Thanks for the help...

Supermoto front fender MK2?

Does anyone have any first hand experience with an aftermarket supermoto style front fender on the MK2? I've looked on this forum but couldn't find anything concrete. The acerbis one seems pretty good, just worried about fit.

Thanks in advance for any insight,
Mike

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

well, never mind i guess. just went for a ride to see if it just needed and extended run after all the work and what a difference!!! I went out and about and came back with no issues at all. I'm still getting used to what a two stroke sounds and feels like, but I think aside from fine tuning the air ...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

well, ive finally replaced both crank seals, but it still runs lousy. Smokes less and less though, i think there is still some residual case oil being burned off. Today i put the generator side seal in, and i still have a throttle that hangs. The bike jumped up to some fairly high RPM and then just ...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

Thanks mammoth! Looks like its the generator side that is now out of production from Honda. I can still get the clutch side though. Thanks for the link and the info about bearing shops, I'll check them both out for sure. I think I will make one purchase from LT anyways, I'll get the seals and the bo...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

I realize leisure trail sells a crank seal kit, I was just wondering if there are other sources out there, or if you guys know who makes the aftermarket seals so I can try and look them up.

Thanks

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

I just learned that one of the crank seals is no longer in production by Honda. I'm not sure yet which one. Do you guys have a good source for aftermarket seals that I could get shipped to a US address? Right now I'm waiting for parts and tools to arrive in the mail so no progress lately. Thanks aga...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

I went through the proper air screw adjustment technique pretty carefully and found that highest idle was about 2 5/8 turns out. It ran pretty well for about 15 minutes, then turned really bad and I had to sputter my way home, stalling out a bunch at the lights. I went to the mechanic and ordered up...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

Thanks knackered.

Your comment about proper air screw adjustment got me reading a lot more on that subject and has me pretty convinced that I probably will be able to solve this with adjustment and or jets. I'll let you know how the air screw adjustment goes.

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii120/mferioli/CRM250RM%20MK2/ here are some photos to go along with this post. I took a shot of the generator side to show that no seals are leaking oil out on that side, not sure if that eliminates those seals as a potential problem. Is that side where I could po...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

Thanks knackered, I actually came across that post already while doing some searching. I made a little throttle position gauge today and went for a ride. I was surprised how little throttle I actually use while on the road here, I barely get to quarter open. It seems as though it starts to run reall...

Re: New MK2 owner in need of help

I pulled the exhaust just now and there is definitely an oily build up at the exhaust port, not enough that it's dripping out when the exhaust is on, but it's wet. The good news is that the cylender walls, head, and piston are extremely clean. Shiny in fact. I didn't expect that at all. The power va...
