Engine cuts out when put in gear
So a Mk3 been stood a while but now starts well and revs freely. Clutch disengages but a bit sticky. So when putting it into gear the engine cuts out even when revving the nuts. It like a switch, I don't think that it is the clutch sticking. Any insights or solutions much appreciated.

Re: I need to clean the carb what is the best way to get at
Ok Carb off cleaned, new jets and back on the bike ( still a bit hesitant at very low speeds but pulls like a train when opened up). Honestly the best way was to loosen the top sub-frame bolt, and remove the 2 lower bolts. So seat off and both side panels and that's it, the Carb clips are loosened a...

Re: I need to clean the carb what is the best way to get at
The weather has been really cold so have not attempted the removal. I am going to try prizing it off the rubber inlet and airbox fist as the sub-frame seems a bit long winded. Referring back to Mike, the rubber on both parts is hard as hell as it stands, which is why I was struggling to to get it of...

Re: I need to clean the carb what is the best way to get at
Thanks for the advice, My problem has been that the rubbers are rock hard and have absolutely no give. However with spring sort of on its way, maybe a good soaking in sunshine will soften them up.
Cheers

I need to clean the carb what is the best way to get at it.
I really just need to twist it to get the bottom part of the carb off and clean or replace the jets. As it is a MK 3 the oil reservoir is in the way so thoughts were remove it and hopefully get enough twist to get to work on the carb. Removing the air box is looking like a much longer job. Any sugge...

Re: Going to compression test bike
My bike (MK3) is a low 4000km and reads about 175 psi. I reckon this is around the top reading.
Hope this helps.
P.S Mikes method for the reading is spot on in my opinion but try with throttle fully open.

Re: top end refresh and jetting question
Hi Mk MK3 with 4000 miles was about 175 psi, Just been checking my dr350 and it was about 40 psi checked it again with a decent gauge and it read about 35 psi better. The first tester was from E bay enough said the, second a Gunson form Halfords. Your Bike should be about 160 -180 in great condition...

Re: Lower Chain Roller
Thanks for putting up the photo, it looks in exactly the same position as mine on the original roller. So a quick up date, Firstly the original rollers are recessed on the frame side, which allows them to get closer and just about touch all of the chain. Hence when putting on a non original, the cha...

Re: Lower Chain Roller
Hi the spacers look right as the chain is ok on the swing arm but any info on the spacers apreciated as this may be the problem (new to the bike). Have added a pic to show the offest!!! Have just checked spacers and the are correct.

Re: Lower Chain Roller
Hi Mike, Spacing is not an option as the chain is riding close to the welded bracket that holds the roller on, although it does sit on the roller itself. Basically it's as if the front sprocket is sticking out to far (I have attached it the right way round) I looked to bashing the whole thing over b...

Lower Chain Roller
Hi I have just swapped out the original lower chain roller with a KTM one from LT as that is all they have in stock. It is a bit shorter but fits, however my problem is that the chain seems to be running very close the outer edge and may start hitting the metal bracket that holds it. I have replaced...

Re: Running Lights MK3 ( indicators on!)
HI just to round this thread off. I have just got the bike MOT, the official word on the indicators is that they are fine as long as when continuously on, they are not as bright as when indicating and Honda are bringing in new bikes with this feature and it is approved. Lastly everyone says "Oh the ...

Auto lube reliability
Just want out at the weekend for a 100mile trail, great fun but loads of other riders were sucking in breath and murmuring dia warnings about the auto lube system. So my question to those in the know is are there any known weak spots on the MK3. Should I premix instead? The auto lube system is a fan...

Re: Piston slap
Hi, Have done compression test it is about 170psi is that OK Mike or to high? The prower vale seems OK and is moving freely. The bike has only done 4000 miles the cylinder and piston look pretty good, no marks, score lines etc.

Re: Piston slap
Thanks for the info Mike, I did a lot of searching for the comp PSI and got nada, might be worth putting it in the FAQ's. I take your point on the gearing, For me the road work is about 50% but the trails are pretty gnarly in my opinion with steep rock and chalk inclines and descents. so will stick ...
