i had same problem inc breaking clutch basket, it was over a year ago, but if i remember rightly i got it off by securing the other side, i think it was the magnito or whatever you call the charger, this is a lot more solid and easier to get a grip of. i remember it was a real B******s of a job thou...

also if the bike has been standing for a while with unleaded the petrol, this forms a varish on needles etc, so might start then conk out, had this with old DR400s, would never have found it if someone hadn`t suggested this. remeady was to soak carb in something, i think it was white spirt but could...

both would do it, but the africa twin is larger and as its says a twin, so better and smoother. also has a bit of a fairing which helps. had a really good weekend out laning in the minehaed area, (on the XR400 as i still havent put the CRM back togather) we were guided by alan from cotswold trialrides, ad in TBM. An excellent area, bit like wales, lots of hills and rocky climbs. used a pucker trials tyre which i had some reservations...
