That 2nd set of symptoms you posted sounds like you may have a blocked breather on the fuel tank. Best to check this before stripping carb cos its easy to do. as you lower the fuel over 20 minutes riding a vacuum creates in the tank and stops the fuel flowing fast enuf to the carb.
