Re: DT200WR versus a CRM250?

I saw one of these DT200's the other day- exactly the same as the picture. I thought it was a 125 actually- made a really tinny noise, very high revving and totally original. The guy tried to race away from me, so I caught him up and then easily powered away from him- and mine isn't a powerhouse! So...

Re: Chain guide

I need one of these- the plastic strop that goes around the top & front of the rear swingarm- the one from the XR doesn't fit, I tried it. Mine snapped off last year and the inventive little Vietnamese managed to mount something cut out from a car tyre!! http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t501/njha...

Re: new DEP downpie and CAT??? also repacking FMF question

You are right about the glass fibre/rockwool, but I actually can't get hold of glass wool packing here, so sainless steel scouring rings wer the best I could do (rather than rinse out the old crap in petrol and dry it out)- I have looped 4 doughnuts of it around the baffle tube and fed it into the t...

Re: how OCD are you?

Yeah- front forks are fairly easy, but you have to strip the whole lot off really and get new seals and oil to do it properly. It certainly made mine less 'reboundy' with thicker oil. Back shock- leave it well alone!! There is enough pressure in there to blow your bloody head off!!

Re: how OCD are you?

I used a 2 beer crates last time to jack the old girl up!! -Of course, had to drink the contents first:-) Didn't even think about grabbing the clutch when she ceased- I think that's a myth, as it all happened so quickly- I was just lucky it was clear benind me and being wet, the back just skidded do...

Re: how OCD are you?

Make sure you have replacement bearings and seals for the rear end before you start onbolting it. You will probably end up digging out the old seals and having to bash the old, rusty bearings out with a metal drift- if they were anything like mine and had'nt been cared for until I bought it. You wil...

Re: Knocking at low revs

Might be a good idea to take off the LHS stator cover off (when the bike is warm) and feel for any play in the main bearings by trying to wobble the flywheel side-to-side- if you can feel any more than a tiny bit of play, your mains could be on the way out- hence the knocking noise...

Re: new DEP downpie and CAT??? also repacking FMF question

Looks good fishy- just like my Procircuit pipe. Use the bolts on the tailpipe- its easier, but don't over tighten! I have repacked mine with stainless steel pot scrubbers fitting around the baffle pipe! -It works brill! Be prepared to have to re-jet. I am going to down-size mine again to a 135 main ...

Re: A dark secret!!

Like the sound of your bike Fishy- she sounds really quick on the pick-up. Mine sounds far louder and more 'tinny'/'pinky' with my Prociruit exhaust. I'm sure the pick-up on mine should be more like yours, so I am going to replace the reeds, bearings and piston again in the summer with a new TRX job.

Re: A dark secret!!

Here's the point- my 95 CRM is still running well(ish) after 17 years of abuse and still looks good for an old girl. In her day she was the best ride around in her class. She has put on a few pounds and wrinkles and is feeling decidedly tired alongside the younger generation (so am I). I wonder how ...

Re: front brake was pants - is now super stiff!!!

Yeah- mine is too long, even with my front forks adjusted right up to their limit, but it allows me to fit my GPS under it- I reckon 150 would just about do it.
