Re: Bottom endrebuild (AR)

There are some RTV,S [ room temperature vulcanising silicones ? ] that can withstand 2T exhaust tempertures and will give a flexible sealing joint. Are you going to warm the cases [ gently ]in the oven as well? Or apply heat locally when putting back together? Were the bearings in the balance shaft ...

Re: Bottom endrebuild (AR)

Have disconnected the carb warming circuit?
Gritty puddle rut water would play havoc if it got in around the mains bearings, and would certainly exacerbate any existing wear.

Re: MK2 exhaust gasket query

Probably advisable, as it might act as a spacer for the end of the pipe into the exhaust flange?
Good news it's all running though.

Welcome 2TD, lots of knowledge to be gleaned on here, just try and help yourself a little in the first instance by looking in the FAQ section to see if your question has been posted before.

Re: husky wr250?

To be honest, any Enduro based bike is always going to be a bit racy for Trail biking, and loud. And, you're not exactly spoilt for choice, KDX's all old now, and pants on the road. If you can find one a Yamaha WR200, is a good bike, as is the TTR250 which although a 4T has a cult following, and all...

Re: husky wr250?

What year is it? That model is supposed to make a good trail bike, but the kick start takes a little getting used to, apparently .

They do have a tendency to emulsify on the inside of the jet.

Re: Carb not sucking in fuel when cold.

Leasure Trail, would have the carb spares. It is the correct carb I assume?
The float height was correct?
If once started, it ticks over steadily, then the compression and pilot circuit should be fine, I would have thought.

The A.Rs have a tendency to kick& buck when on an even throttle, they prefer to either be pulling or braking.

Well done, if you have a sufficiently inquisitiveness nature to carry through with the repair, the broken component will be pennies to repair.

Re: Stuttering after 20 minutes of riding

By "stuttering" do you mean a miss fire, or a lack of power as the throttle is opened?

Re: Carb not sucking in fuel when cold.

It's normally just a case of getting to know the bike, they all seem to have their own idiosyncrasies. Pilot jets being blocked/ munged up are a notorious reason for a lack of starting. Sometimes it's worth replacing the existing pilot jet, even if it looks clean, with either the same size, or going...

Re: Carb not sucking in fuel when cold.

Some acquaintance with your particular bike might be needed. Assuming that the bike starts and runs without issue you could try the old " rock-a-by-baby " technique. How so ? Key in ignition, but NOT turned on, petrol ON, choke ON, engage 1st or 2 Nd gear, start rocking the bike backwards and forwar...
