Re: DEP exhaust jetting

Aftermarket exhaust tend to make standard jetting rich. So you have to drop the needle one or go one lower on the pilot to start with.

BUT ONLY IF YOU NEED TO!

Told you this already ;)

Re: New owner (With a couple of questions!)

I've got both DEP MK3 and Mk1/2 silencers that will need repacking. The Mk1/2 is pretty rusty. I'm getting rid of what's left of my CRM bits and just want rid of them and you can have them for £25 + postage if you are interested. I've got photos I can send by email.

Re: New owner (With a couple of questions!)

I have 2 DEP silencers and they are different. One is a mk1/2 and the other labelled as Mk3. The Mk1/2 main frames are the same as are the Mk3/AR. I would start with the Mk3 silencer and change if needed DEP will take the silencer back even if you have to force them saying it's wrongly labelled.

Re: New owner (With a couple of questions!)

As above.

The fact that you haven't got much/any smoke is not necessarily a problem. Once the engine is warmed and the exhaust warmed through there really shouldn't be much/any smoke if the engine is in good order.

Re: Mugen Exhaust on Ebay

I didn't know they sold bit on Ebay either and the prices are a bit steep.

You can get the tool kit very much cheaper by other means. Some places even have new tools.

Re: Mugen Exhaust on Ebay

Originally it would have been chrome so it's been overpainted poorly. I would imagine it is genuine as it's being sold by Leisure Trail, but I don't think it would offer any better performance than another brand of aftermarket pipe. Especially as it is old and probably has seen a lot of use to get c...

Re: Had my crm ar for 10 years! Never missed a beat until now!

Sounds like the new gasket is for the Mk1-3 CRM. The AR is slightly different. I suspect that using a pillar drill straight will distort or tear the gasket. I suggest you sandwich the gasket between two sheets of steel or aluminium ~3mm thickness and clamp it together - maybe even clamp it using sev...

Re: Had my crm ar for 10 years! Never missed a beat until now!

If the piston has no marks/writing on the top then it is almost certainly on the original bore which will be 66.4mm. Is there a lot of 'blowby' on the piston? Brown/black extending below the piston rings. There may also be wear on the cylinder which will need to be measured with a bore gauge. If so ...

Re: Had my crm ar for 10 years! Never missed a beat until now!

It hasn't seized solid but it looks very much like it tried. If you find that the piston has smeared over the piston rings then that is what has happened. Taking the head off is relatively easy, but you have to take quite a few bits off first. You don't have to take the whole engine out even to get ...

Re: Had my crm ar for 10 years! Never missed a beat until now!

You haven't got enough compression. What you have described is very much like a bike running lean before seizing. Two strokes run their best when bordering on running too lean. I suspect that for whatever reason your bike was too lean and the engine suffered the consequences. You will probably need ...
