Chris, I would love to come down for a ride around Wiltshire - I used to live in Devizes and worked in Marlborough for a while. I understand that Wiltshire is riddled with Byways but Im afraid that I didnt own my CRM until I moved back to West Sussex. I still have friends over that way (Swindon) and...

Stripping the clutch down would be my preference but then im a perfectionist. All you really need is a couple of drilled flat pieces of steel with which to grip the basket whilst you are getting the centre nut undone. If you are mightily careful its possible to get away without needing to replace th...

Hi Ed,

9.5K is nothing for a bike like the CRM however I guess you dont know what oil has been used in it before...? I understand that oil, if left long enough can separate - this could cause problems...

Did you manage to get the engine out and down to your mate at the garage?

Ed, Fret not! You should get a tiny bit of side to side movement - its perfectly normal. You should only worry if there is play in the other plane, i.e. the top to bottom direction of the conrod itself. Did you check the balance shaft as I suggested? In fact, why not go the whole hog and repeat what...

Ed, If memory serves you need to remove the gear from the end of the crankshaft (the one that drives the basket of the outer clutch. The balance shaft sits beneath that and will pull straight out. When you put it back in make sure that you line it up correctly - there are marks to enable you to do s...

Ed, When you withdrew the balance shaft was there any heavy scoring on it? Mine started making 'odd' noises from the clutch over two years ago - I started fretting about it, pulled the clutch and balance shaft apart and couldnt find anything wrong. Ive been riding the bike for the past two years wit...

jrv, Welcome to the forum. The first thing that I would do is to establish whether the float height is actually correct as opposed to adjusting it until it stops coming out of the overflow. Once you know for certain that the float height is correct then its time to start looking elsewhere - its poss...

I thought an MOT tester's job was to test whether your bike is roadworthy, not offer you advice on your main bearings! My advice - get a second opinion from a reputable bike shop, preferably the local dirtbike people. If they say that your mains need replacing then get a price for them to do it with...

Mark 2 wiring loom route?

Guys, I have stripped the CRM and am rebuilding it, just had my frame powder-coated, looks great! Ive got a question on how to route the wiring loom from the headlight down to the rest of the bike. I know I should have made a diagram and i thought I would remember it but i cant! Ive got it coming do...
