Re: Mk3 Refresh

I've been looking into replacement rear shocks. As stated in FAQ's Wilbers do a shock for a supermoto AR. https://www.wilbers-shop.de/en/Motorcycle/Honda/CRM-250-AR-Supermoto-MD32/?cur=1&year=1997 I contacted the UK supplier about it suitability for off road use and got no reply. Contacted Wilbers i...

Re: Mk3 Refresh

A couple more hours and its all apart. https://i.ibb.co/XzPvJHC/DSC-0028-1.jpg I'll take it to the powdercoater's on Monday. I'm thinking about getting the swing arm powdercoated silver at the same time. Has anyone done this? Does it hold up ok? The head stocked bearings looked pretty bad too. There...

Mk3 Refresh

I started taking my mk3 apart yesterday to give it a bit of a freshen up. I had thought about doing this in the past but had worried that if it looked too good, I might be afraid to use it. But with a combination my a mate taking his bike off the road for work and the lack of a bike project, I thoug...

Re: Paddy in NZ

Hi Conor,

Do you mean the big end bearing?

There's some info here about cranks.

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5267

Looks like you can't get that bearing from Honda, just the whole crankshaft, if there are any left.

Re: Cooling fan

Do you think its worth fitting Knackered? When I had the original dash, the light would come on now and again, but since fitting a dash with a proper temperature gauge, the temperature never seems to go high enough to cause any concern.

I wondered if the warning light was a little over sensitive.

Re: Engine lock up.

I bought an oversized piston, my paperwork says 66.4mm and then had the barrel bored and powervalve blended to suit.

Re: Engine lock up.

When I rebuilt mine, I used a Wossner piston and Athena gaskets. If I did it again I would probably use a genuine heads gasket. Saying that the Athena one has been no trouble and that was 7 years ago.

Re: New member

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with the purchase, I own a MK3, but my brother used to have a Mk1. I also like kdx's and always keep an eye out for them. Feel free to post a few photo's of either bike. The forum is a bit quite nowadays, but you normally get a reply with a bit of patience and there i...

Re: Jetting the carb 1991 mk2

I'm running a FMF pipe with a Dep can, on my mk3. I can't remember if I changed the jetting at all, if I did I would have thought I would have just changed the main jet. Your problem does sound like it could be the pilot jet. It might just be partially blocked. Sometimes when cleaning carbs you can ...

Re: Need help with mk2 - strange no spark problem

If you have just had the engine out and now having trouble with running, I would be inclined to check all connectors and earth pionts. Also worth checking coil resistance. Has the pick up been set to the correct gap to the flywheel? You can also measure pick up resistance and resistance through the ...

Re: Knackered's Project - Highly Modded Mk1

Thanks, that was a good read.

Its a shame the photos don't work anymore, but I assume you still have them stored somewhere.

I think I'll start a rebuild thread for my mk3 soon, not a lot of action on here recently.

Hi, Ive only just seen this post. I'd be willing to test a Mk3 ECU if the offer is still available?

Re: Water in the gearbox

I probably ride about once a month, if I'm lucky, so it probably gets changed every 6-10 rides. Every 4 rides sounds a little over kill, but maybe I'm wrong. In theory a 2T gearbox should have zero contamination, unlike a 4T (although mine is getting water in I think) or is that wrong? The breather ...
