Re: bullet HD battry is rubbish - beach ride today

Yes there are some great trails in Wales :D

Check the ride reports on this site. (the site shut down in March 2013 but has recently brought back again)

Re: bullet HD battry is rubbish - beach ride today

I see what you mean about narrow overgrown paths! I wonder whether you ever run into any walkers?

I reckon your first, second gear and clutch must take a hammering but engine sounds sweeter than mine.

What sort of temperatures are you riding in also is the humidity high?

Dense undergrowth!

Do you have to form the track yourself or do the paths already exist?

What is the other bike?

Re: New bikes

I've been toying with getting a WR250 but not found one in my neck of the woods yet. I want an electric start. Unfortunately I've not ridden one so can't comment on comparison with CRM. If one believes the figures the CRM should be more powerful....

Makes for interesting reading and will no doubt spur me on to overhauling one of my Mk3s
Looking forward to seeing photos of the finished article.

Re: Engine cutting out in deep water.

Thanks for all the tips :BB

Unfortunately my rideout was cancelled so I did not get to test my arrangement. Mike, I'll be redirecting my overflow tube back to to its original location near dog bone.

Pudzie I don't follow the stick rubber strips tip. :? If possible a photo would be appreciated.

Re: Engine cutting out in deep water.

Thanks for responses, Decided to route all tubes to top of air box and sealed airbox cover with silicon grease only to find trip to Strata is off - I guess water levels must be too high after all this rain plus more tomorrow. Mike , which one is the breather tube? There are 3 clear polythene tubes o...

Engine cutting out in deep water.

A couple of weeks ago my Mk3's engine died in a section of deepish water, 40 to 50cm deep, :( As it started dying I pulled in the clutch and tried to rev the engine with no load but to no avail. I tried kick starting it in the water, about 10 attempts, with no luck and then decided to push it out on...

Re: Shock Bearings / Swing arm bearings are no more!!!

You can stick the bearing in your oven for half an hour. I normally set oven at about 150 degrees Celsius. Only problem is food tastes of oil/grease for a few meals :).

Simplybearings are quite good for bearings and seals in the UK

Great photos. Weather looked so wet that there were no walkers! Were the waterproof socks Seal Skinz?

Re: Overhauling Mk3 forks

Got the bike MOT'd yesterday. Must say the forks are great after the refurb. :) Will be trying ATF for transmission oil once I've changed the gear selector shaft oil seal. Is this a seal that has to be bought from LT? I've not managed to find a seal number/size in FAQ. I will check for numbers on th...

Re: Overhauling Mk3 forks

Well, I bought the 10w in the end so it will have to be "exuberant" rides.

Actually the fact that the 10w was 60% of the price of the 7.5w was what swung it.

What came out of the forks seemed a lot more viscous than the 10w so should still be a plush ride -- I hope!

Re: Overhauling Mk3 forks

Motol do a 7.5 and I can obtain from M&P for £15 a litre.

Not sure about too "exuberant" rides at my age (60+) :)
