First proper CRM ride

Post by Cupid Stunt » 19 May 2007, 19:17

OK, I posted this yesterday or at least I thought I did, I certainly hit the post button but where it went is a mystery...

Phoned my mate Alan at 3pm to see wht he was up to the weekend and he said he fancied an afternoon ride, so I got into top gear went to the garage and in 30 minutes flat removed the rear wheel and tyre and fitted a rim lock and all back together, got all my kit on just in time for Alan to arrive
We headed off into some local terrain with a good mix of fire roads and rocky stuff but nothing extreme
At first the CRM was springing about too much so when we stopped I got teh drivers out and backed off the compression settings all the way, wow what a difference, the bike was going over rocks like nothing else I've ridden, it really was a revelation, ver impressed, the power delivery was excellent too, not only was it smooth without any snatch but I found that it wasn't lacking punch when you got up into the midrange powerband, COOL :D
Though it wasn't too long before I was up to my usual tricks, after managing to get cross rutted my front wheel was faced with a large rock so I hit the anchors and was promptly thrown sideways off the bike  , next one was going up a slight hill and dropping into an unseen ditch, didn't fall off straight away but I managed to when I tried to climb out of the ditch
We was only out for a couple of hours but so far I'm very impressed and I rekon it could be the exact bike I've always wanted (sshhh, let's keep it a secret, we don't want them all to have the same advantage eh ?)
I was back home with the bike washed, dried and re-oiled by 5:45pm, have made a some minor adjustments to bars and levers (crickey they were pointing straight down)
Out again tomorrow on more demanding and familiar terrain so I'll do another report then

Chuffed so far :)
