Tom's farm - Spring/Summer?

Post by Scoobie » 05 Jan 2007, 23:12

Anybody up for the above - down on Saturday;camping Saturday night for another day on Sunday????

Or pick and choose which day to come along if people will be there both day's.

I thought if we start to organise it now then their can be no-late 'back outs' due to 'not enough time for planning'.

For people who havn't beed to Tom's farm it's a must especially the 'Widowmaker'. You never know; in the future we may lose access so might as well make the most of it while we can.

Cheers,
Scoobie

Just done a search and found this.....

Tom's Farm

Location
Cwmderw Farm. Landranger map 147, ref. 030-787.

Directions
From the center of Rhayader (the clocktower), take the A470 NW towards Llangurig for a few yards. Turn right onto B4518 just after arts centre/cinema, signed to St Harmon. Go through St Harmon & keep going to Pan-y-dwr. Turn right by pub/phone box towards Bwlch-y-Sarnau. When you get to a junction on a right-hand bend, go straight on - NOT right to Bwlch. This should take you into the forest. Look out for a left turn just after a right-hand bend, & take it. Follow this down, through the gate at the end of the forest, & behold the wonderland

Opening Times
Open every day at 10am, as long as there's nothing special happening - better to ring first to check.

Price
£7.50

Facilities
It's a 600 acre hill and also part of the Welsh 2 day event. Quads, 4WD's and bikes of any descrition are welcome. Watch out for the monster hill, at least 2 people have been airlifted to hospital with smashed legs, after riding off the top of it! You don't have to stick to the courses, anywhere goes.
It's definatey not a MX track but more of a free for all, just be aware of other riders / drivers.

Contact
Tom Breese - 01597 870202 for more details and directions (practice your Welsh placenames first though).

i was there last year.....like someone already said its an enduro fans dream

four of us went and camped.......so that left 600 acres for us four and about another 5 people that were there. weather kinda limitted the riding tho.

apart that never gets mentioned is a small river that u can ride down....bout a mile stretch ridable i think. something different to try

some things to watch out for. dont drive a car too far into like i did coz if it rains....u get stuck....like i did  it took the other 5 lads on quads to tow me out

the other thing is....dont camp on the highest peak like we did....we slept in fear of being lifted off the ground from the gusts

good crack tho. recommend it

ian
