Well, not really on the Sarn Helen. But a continuation of a weekends riding with a couple of mates off the Crm site.
Slider, Mickstoy and myself set off around 11am, after a fantastic breakfast, of a northern delicacey of oatcakes filled with sauasage, bacon and cheese. Bloody lovely
The first lane, just above Port Talbot, and heading over towards Bryn. Quite an easy run, about 2 miles long, with the first half forestry road, and the second half rutted and grassy.
Then about 2 miles of tarmac to the next lane, which takes you from Bryn to Pontrhydyfen. Another relativley easy lane, that starts with hardpack, then goes to a twin rutted section with water running down it. Back onto hardpack for about 200yds, and then drop down through a bit of forestry for a mile, to join the tarmac at Pontrhydyfen.

Then onto the next lane, which takes you from Cwmavon, over towards Cimla. Again, starts easy, and then gets a bit rocky and marbley, but not a problem. All uphill, and about 1 1/2 miles long. Quite a bit of tarmac to the next lane, which starts at Tonmawr, and heads over to Tonna. A lovely lane, about 3-4 miles long, with a mix of hardpack, a small river crossing, a bit of greasy clay, and grassy moorland. We then did all the lanes in reverse order, and got back to my house for a bit of a buffet, before Slider and Mickstoy headed home to Stoke on Trent. All in all, a great weekends riding, with great company.

If it gets bashed, it gets bashed......................

I can't see the reasoning behind keeping bikes and cars wrapped in cotton wool. When I occasionally go to a show I usually leave feeling really disapointed at all the machines that should be driven.

Exception - Went round Brooklands a few years ago and got to passenger a 1930s Bugatti (2 seater open. I think it was a T50) around the banking and up the hill. Honestly - the tears were running down my face.
