the day didn't start to well,i'd given my self 1 3/4 hours to do the 50 mile trip to meet eddie in chirk near oswestry and also get some brecky. unfortunately i had to drive through thick fog for 30 or so miles wich meant not only was i late arriving(cheers for hanging about ed) but i also didn't have chance for any chow
anyhow,i met ed in the car park in chirk, unloaded the van and got the riding gear on,wet boots from the saturday ride in the peaks with the throttle monkey forum lads and lasses, mmm nice!.
as you can see from the pics both bikes were immaculately presented

off we set down th A5 to the first trail just past froncysyllte where ed pulled over and said something about steps that i didnt quite catch :?: .we start off and due to the autumnal leaves littering the trails and hiding most of the trails detail/hazards saw both of us slip sliding around.we eventually came to a flight of man made steps, ahh now i figured out what ed was on about :) we both climb up the steps with out issue and carry on to the end of the trail.
from here on in i could have been anywhere in north wales as the trails came thick and fast with only short tarmac sections inbetween and with eddie guiding us over farm, forest and mountain trails some of the views were excellent

we arrived at one trail, where ed warned me that it was a little sh*tty and overgrown, correction young man it was very sh*tty and overgrown:lol:

just a little further down from that pic i had to duck under some holly branches and with my head on the tank virtually,DOHHH!! i've just entered the under growth, head first with the bike some where behind me .after remounting i fight my way to the end of the trail to meet ed.
as we're laughing about my off ed spots i've got a rear puncture DOUBLE DOHHH!!.we set about fixing it but seeing as the last trail was thick mud everything was pretty mucky!.tube removed, i trotted of to a livestock waterbutt to find the hole then returned to ed and the bikes,as i patched the tube ed had a quick bike cleaning session with a stick wich raised a few chuckles from me.
with the puncture sorted we resume play on several more lanes
heres a pic of ed in action

at one point whilst in a trails centre rut,ed has an off, wich ended with the bike trapping his leg under it and being concerned for his safety, offered to take a pic! .there was some muffled noise coming from inside of eds helmet so i opted to pick the bike up instead(still reckon it would of made a cracking pic ed  )
so with the incident score at 2-1 against me,we do a few more rutted, muddy trails and eddie included a couple of rocky descents(i think to make me feel at home).on both occasions i was forced to pass ed,i'm not bragging because each time i was pretty much out of control so it was pass or take us both off  .on the second one as i reached the end,i waited for ed to come and i was just about to walk back to see where he was just as he came into view and as he pulled up he admitted to having another minor off,yep the scores were now level at 2 all :).a few more lanes and then we headed back to chirk

it was a thoroughly enjoyable day, with a top guide and all round top bloke.
if eddie posts up the offer of another trip and i'm free i'll definitely take him up on it and i'd advise anybody whose thinking of it to do the same.
so whats next?,i've offered ed a ride in the peaks in december when i'm back to having weekends free of work again, anybody interested??

I'm glad you enjoyed it Slider, some good photos as well, I just don't recognise that fat ****er on my bike :)
I only took a couple of photos, each showing Slider in action repairing his puncture. Although they are a pain, being able to fix them roadside minimises that and we were soon on our way.

Just behind the bike in this photo you can see the exit from the lane we had just been along.

The muffled sound from inside my helmet was me laughing at the stupid reason for my off. At least it was a soft landing.
To sum the day up for me, great weather, lanes and company. Thanks for coming along Slider and I look forward to a day in the peaks.
PS. We have only just scratched the surface of the lanes available in North Wales so be prepared to ride some different lanes when you come here next.
