today mick, kingy, bill and myself went to north wales to do a run around some of the lanes i did with eddy in november and a few that i'd found on wayfinder.we got to the meeting point near oswestry, got kitted and set off with only a minor delay as kingy's wr decided not to start
.
we head out to the first lane and complete it with no probs.on to the second lane that started just across the road from the last one, this is where it starts to go a little pear shaped.we start on up the second lane and it starts to get very narrow and we end up riding within 2ft of the edge of a stone quarry, nowt wrong with that i here you say,yes there is,when the quarry floor is 100ft+ below and all that seperates you is a few steel strands of wire fence!
.the lane is mainly rock with a thin layer of grass/moss on top wich meant theres absolutely no traction and led to having push the bikes for around 50ft to climb the steepest section,we stop as the lane levels off so our iron lungs can recoup.
5 mins later we decide to carry on to the end of the lane, after 20 mins faffing to try and find the correct route(or just a way out would have been nice)we decide the correct course is blocked by a wooden fence and style leading through a farmers field and turn back the way we'd came and get to the next lane we'd got planned.
this is where it gets proper shat!!
a little bit of road work and we get to the gate at the top of the next lane,as i'm leading for the day i get off to open the gate and the mk2 conks.we get the bikes through and i go to start the bike, several kicks and nothing then the kick start jams halfway down its stroke,so i tries again, nope, nothing the motors seized solid
f@*k!!
.
we eventually get it unseized bumping it backwards but it wont start off the kick, end of play then
.we come up with a plan of rolling it down to the main road so it'd be easier too pick up with the van.so we set off,i'm holding onto micks left arm for a tow(cheers mate
).i decide to bump it while being towed and as luck would have it ,it fired into life,a lot less powerfull than before and a truck load noisier, feck and beggar definitely a ring down!
to top this the centre joint on the vans propshaft has got progressively noisier since leaving home this morning,so thats gotta be fixed too!
