A nice Chrimbo ride through Wales

Post by 2Smoke » 28 Dec 2012, 23:22

Managed a nice ride yesterday with some friends, did a load of new routes guided by my mate Steve on his KTM.

We started off in Trawsfynydd (decommissioned) nuclear power stn, and rode down to Machynlleth via some entertaining routes and lanes. A lot of roads were used unfortunately, as we had a newbie with us who was finding the going a bit 'tough' to say the least! Still it gave me plenty of opportunity for photo taking!

The lanes were mainly fairly difficult, not helped by the recent heavy rain causing lots of flooding! But still the old faithful CRM proved its worth by tackling everything in its stride and only falling over a few times..

Start of the ride

Waiting at the top of the first lane, a very muddy slippery uphill section.

The chap on the KDX sliding his way up!

A nice lake, with a dodgy trail around it!

A quick stop to check the CRM's non-operating RC valve (and flying turnip!)

Trip up the mountain, cannot remember what it's called. Was a fun ride though with lots to catch you out.

No worries mate, I tend to go as often as the Mrs lets me!

Once I have the bike sorted will go again, probably heading for late January for the next ride. Will hopefully do another 120 mile run, although I have a great route down Betws Y Coed that takes around 6 hours at an easy pace and is about 70 miles. Less road miles though so a little harder on the arms!

It was mate, waterproof socks are possibly the best £30 I've ever spent! Didn't quite last the 8 hours of riding though...

Have got a Go Pro for chrimbo, so will hopefully have some nice footage next time we go, although it will probably contain lots of swearing, falling off, and heavy breathing!
