3rd ride of the year.

Post by ukgraydog » 15 Mar 2013, 23:24

Off to Llangolen on sunday, very exited! Its the first time back since I tore my hamstring, half way along the Wayfairers in August last year. I have been over the Peaks on two occasions so far this year and my bike (CRM250 mkII) has been running sweet as a nut on both occasions so hopefully no mishaps on sunday.
Only two out this Sunday, myself and Toby (kdx220) with his new upside down forks ala kdx 300.
Also have new GoPro helmet cam so will hopefully post some footage of us not falling off whilst attempting the "Badi"
Anyone fancy riding Llangollen with us this Sunday 17th, let me know or meet us kayak centre carpark @ 9am

Have a good one.
Think you will find Allt Y Badi a bit more interesting than it was last year ;)

Last time I rode it part of the concrete had started to erode away leaving a nice step to catch out the uncommitted. ;)

Hahahaha, just watched your video of the Badi pmsl!
Badi 4, riders nil.
The Badi claimed both of us as well, although it was soaked when we rode it :P
And also our attempt was after changing my rear tyre 3 times, so we were fatigued already.
My rear AC10 was completely destroyed on a jagged rock about twenty minutes after we set out, also killed the innertube, so had to stick my spare front tube in and limp back to Llangollen. We loaded the bikes back into the van and drove to Wrexham to get a new tyre. The guy at the bike shop didnt want to fit the tyre (said he wasnt very good at it!) but allowed us to use all the shops equipment.
So tyre off, tube out, new heavy duty tube in new maxxis and proceed to fit new tyre, manage to pinch brand new tube!!!!! DOH!
Managed to get it right next try after buying another tube!
£80 later we make it back to Llangollen and get back out on the trail. We did one trail before we got to the Badi and by the time we got to the top of the Badi (about 1hr later) we were shagged and ready to go home.
I also managed to crash near the top of the Badi and bent my Renthal bars, so have also had to order new bars at a cost of £50.
So thats £80 for tyre, £50 for bars and £30 for fuel, £160! and we probably only managed an hours riding.
Maybe I'm jinxed.

Oh yes that lane can bite, same as Pandy, every time I look at the track back makes me laugh route goes up Badi and then just gives up and comes back down, rode it quite a few times too. As long as you have the bodies and the energy you will be OK, does your head in when you get stuck and people just chug past you all they way to the top like its nothing!! ha ha. seen a few people go back down for another go, while I am resting :D at the top burnt out!
