thanks for the link. lots of good info. the gearing I have now is decent at highway speeds and on trails so I'll probably just leave it as is

Last year I did a 300 mile trip over 2 days. A mixture of road and trails, there was a MK3, MK1 CRM and an XR400, all the bike did it with no problems. As said above a normal Sunday ride out is between 50 and 80 miles.
The biggest problem doing long trips, especially if riding off road is finding fuel and after about 30 mins of riding on the road, I'm starting to get a bit fed up.

I usually carry a fuel bottle with me just to get me to a station when I start to run low. The bike drinks the 2T oil though, that stuff disappears fast

I've done a 250 mile coast to coast in a day from the bottom of the Lake district to North Northumberland. 12.5 hours and as much odd road as possible. Never missed a beat

Awesome to hear. I love how reliable these bikes are
