Longest rides you've taken

What's the longest ride you've taken on your CRM? What's the longest ride you'd be comfortable taking? I'm trying to freshen up some parts on my MK2 and add a few bags for a multi-day camping trip this winter. I've taken it on a few hour-long jaunts through the country side with zero problems...this is mixed road/trail riding with some snack breaks in between. Am I being too risky or can this bike handle stuff like that with no issue? How far do you like to ride?

I used to regularly do 200 miles in a day. With some modest fettling of the usual high wear items, multi day trips shouldn't be an issue.

That's great to hear. I still haven't become fully acquainted with the bike so I've been hesitant to take it too far away. Do you have to do anything special with the jetting, or is at simple as fueling up and taking off?

The jetting is set for road use, but after extended continuous high speed road work I would always put the choke on when throttling back. Carry enough of your choice of 2T for the length of trip you plan though.

What exactly does choking it while decelerating do? Does it just ensure that the engine is still getting lubed when your'e off the throttle?

The engine whilst decelerating is still turning over at say 4000 rpm, but is now only being fed of the pilot jet, and some oil from the autolube, the choke throws some extra fuel in to help cool and lube the top end. I might be overly cautious, but it works for me as far as peace of mind is concerned.

Done 100 mile days of trail and road mix.

Very reassuring to hear. Have you had any problems riding that far?

Nope, wouldn't think twice about it. Most Sunday rides are 60-80 miles of trail/road mix.
Had a puncture once but fixed it and carried on. Why do you think a 5-8 hr ride will be a problem? We go out most weekends and have no probs and that includes KTM's!!! Clean the air filter every few rides or so, new chain and sprockets once a year (front one twice), Gear oil every 200 miles, new rear tyre once a year, wheel bearings a couple of times a year and a piston every 20 years!!

This is my first bike and I honestly had no idea this bike was as reliable as I've read on here. It's great to hear that other members are able to ride them long distances with zero issues. I live in NE Italy and am planning to drive to Croatia in a few months and that's only 2 hours away, but will be split up by coffee and snack breaks. I have to do a couple small things to it before the trip for routine maintenance and then I'll just strap some tools on and take off

The bike as standard should be fine to sit at 90KPH on the road, but final gearing would have an impact on that figure.

I'm pretty sure I have stock gearing, maybe even higher. I'm not home to be able to check currently but it's not bad at highway speeds

I run 13-52 so get max 115KPH but normally ride at 80KPH on the road sections.

With that gear ratio could you hold at 110 or so for an extended period or would the bike be screaming?

not a chance it would be over 7000 rpm at that speed.
Check this http://www.gearingcommander.com/ out to play with gearing to show speed at what revs etc.
