Hillclimb time trials anyone ??

Post by bananaextreme » 14 Nov 2008, 17:02

I looked into this before, but like a top class muppet ended up being tempted into selling my supermoto wheels...... DOWH !!!!. So of course progress camr to a stop.

Anyway, I am now determined to get on and do this durring 2009.
CRM's it seems would make a pretty good hill climb bikes as the runs are not that long with a few twisties thrown in. They would also run in the competition class >250cc.

All you need to do to start is join the NHCA and get your licence from the ACU.
have a look at :
http://www.nhca.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
All is explained there.......

I will keep progess updated ( as soon as I get some wheels again !! ) and post some pics on the bike and of course my first event :o .....

If any one else fancies having a go, let let me know as I would be very interested in how you get on.
There are lots of venues all over the place and what a laugh !!!

A friend of mine used to do hillclimbs on his DR 350 which he supermoto'd, I was going to have a go myself but like you sold my wheels.
due to cashflow (or rather lack of it) he didn't race last year. but he says out of all the competing he has done he enjoyed hilclimbs the most.
you also get the most unlikley people and machines winning, for years his target (to beat) was an old chap on a bmw boxer who used to turn up on his bike take off his panniers and race. he always looked slow because he was very smooth, and always set a quick time.
good luck and keep us posted..........

Well, the super moto wheels are on and what good fun they are !!!!!...... :D :D :BB 120 front and 150 rear on original hubs re laced into 17" rims ( nice ) .......

Now I just need to get the sprocket ratio right ????? :?:

Currently running 14/49, great fun and pulls very well at low speed, but runs out of top speed at about 60mph. Think i need to get about 80mph top speed, but still keep some of the low down punch.

Any ideas what ratio would do this well ?? :?:

cheers
pics to follow soon.
