As for the Makita , a guy i worked with in the late 80's had an old one like i said the drill lasts for ever but the batteries don't .
i've bought a couple of pattern batteries from here in the past

You could probably get them off ebay if you really wanted to, not sure why you would though

The makita was alright for 15 quid lol but its not really worth buying a new battery for. May as well buy a newer better one instead

to buy a decent brand drill with decent batteries new your looking at £100+

both these drills have 2 lithium batteries , the higher the AH the longer the battery will last .
but i guess your happy with your drill for the moment

i got the panasonic drill as well, better power, better battery, better drill in general.

Anyway, boomboxes and drills? Before this gets any more off topic... most of the paint on the header of the exhaust has burned off and its only a matter of time before it rusts again, so im looking into other options around that. i spoke to leasure trail and they sell the front part of the exhaust for £185 new, but obviously thats a lot of money when i already have one.

The dep expansion pipe is nice but like all the single skin aftermarket expansion pipes they bend very easy much to my dismay , if I remember I'll post a pic of mine

18/03/16: I repainted the exhaust pipe again using VHT flameproof paint this time, but doing it properly with primer and curing in between coats. The paint apparently withstands upto 1100 degree (centegrade) heat but the the useless sh!t lasted a matter of days before it started to bubble up and flake on the header
The paint on the silencer held up nicely though due to the lack of heat towards the rear, but i gave up on the front pipe and spent 200 quid on a shiny new DEP one! thank you leisure trail

ive pulled some more bits off the bike recently for tidying up...


i had the sprocket guard powdercoated gloss black


and the RC cover, B&A




the oil cap thingy was starting to rust so i had that done as well

the brake and gear pedals were starting to look worse for wear, they were raw uncoated steel so i painted them a while ago with chrome spray paint. it done the job for a while but wasnt really sufficient. the gear lever also had to be hammered back into shape

the generator cover looked 'OK, ish from a distance but it was starting to discolour like a 20 year old SNES


some sanding and a few coats of plastic primer/satin black later...


i also bought some stainless rear wheel cams as mine are starting to flake and rust again. these are from the original honda africa twin but i see no reason why they shouldnt fit

fitted this and bolted the pipe to the bike. its improved the sound giving it a much clearer 'pinger' note, i guess all the carbon build up inside the old pipe was muffling that 2stroke noise.. not to mention the improvement in looks

they sure do, it sounds more 'two strokey' now... Hopefully it should improve performance a little as well
