cheers guys. sports bikes have never really apealed to me (yet) and plus my cousin very nearly died in a severe R6 crash so there's also that... You know today i was quoted £1100 to insure the CRM for a year!! I only paid £1300 for the bike

Anyway, I had time to do the spokes today, the anodising on about half the spokes has worn off like these. You can still kinda see in places where i touched them up with a red red sharpie pen when i bought the bike but it didnt really last...

I bought some metallic red 'Paris memories' nail varnish, which was a quid from poundstretchers... ooh lah lah

Its not quite the same shade as the spokes, but from a distance you cant tell anyway and all the spokes just look red, so thats a good improvement...

I also did these front axle bolts for good measure lol, to be fair the nail varnish works really well because its more transparent than paint and does look similar to a shiny anodised finish...

I could use a bit of help from you crm guys!!! Since owning this bike ive had problems with the engine cutting out and refusing to start, ive paid two different mechanics to sort it out but its only ever ran temporarily before the fault quickly returns, however owning this 2 stroke has tought me a few things about bikes...
Lately even though its been off the road for 3 weeks its been starting first kick and running fine, as soon as i got it on the road today though its a different matter. It still has a really good power delivery, it has so much grunt for a 250! But it does idle quite high and the revs do increase without touching the throttle. I rode 5 miles today, turned the bike off for half an hour to see a friend, when i got back on the bike it started 2nd kick but died 30 seconds later and now it refuses to start once again. At first there were no signs of life, no neutral light flashing on the dash or lights flickering like it usuall does but then i started to get both when i try to kickstart it. We tried to bump start it but with no luck, i then pushed it to a local mechanic but he had no joy and no space to book it in which leads me Back to square one.
Im still not very experienced with bikes but it sounds to me like its sucking too much air in, hence the revs and seeing that the carb has been serviced twice now it cant be that. The bike also doesnt start even when im getting lights so it cant be the killswitch, i dont think? Im thinking its a worn gasket on the crankcase or something like that which is letting air in.
Any further help would be appreciated

cheers, that does give me a couple things to consider. Your probably more experienced than me when it comes to bikes breaking down, im 24 and this is only my second bike. First one i bought brand new so i didnt have any engine problems.jompy wrote:replied on your other thread

Buddy we all started some where for me it was with cars when i was 18 taking engines out my mk2 escort estate that ended up a state , swapping the front struts with drum brakes dor struts with disk brakes . . . . . . . maybe at your age it's probably help if you used google images to find out what a mk2 escort estate looks like
Although i've stripped a 4 stroke engine i've never rebuilt one , had the head off the escort but thats OHV ( over head valve ) over head cams with theyre timeing & timing chains scare me He He

Buddy we all started some where for me it was with cars when i was 18 taking engines out my mk2 escort estate that ended up a state , swapping the front struts with drum brakes dor struts with disk brakes . . . . . . . maybe at your age it's probably help if you used google images to find out what a mk2 escort estate looks like

ive always been a fan of classic fords
Werent the 70s estates used mostly as company cars which did high milage and have now all been written off? Ive never seen a mk2 escort estate in person though i must admit. The cortina estate mustve gone the way of the dodo for sure! I used to want to own a mk3 cortina, which i think was sparked by the life on mars series. a neighbour used to have a project one i wanted to buy, must of been about a 72 ish model, unfortunately not the gxl though with the 4 headlamps and tombstone seats but it had nice red paint with little rust. It was one of those project cars though which had been stripped and all the parts have been chucked inside which was too much of a resto for me to take on with my experience...
Anyway, i did have a 125 supermoto style thingy which was a fun bike with a good engine but shook itself to bits, although fairly maintenence free and didnt teach me much and ive now fucked myself in the ass by unleashing a vintage two stroke on myself without being too handy with the spanners, and its been a ball ache since i bought it. But your right, thats how we learn. In all fairness ive tought myself quite a lot about engines just through owning the crm

Give it time mate you seem to be doing well so far

Ahh yes the laser with its pinstripe stickers on the sides, very 80s 
...The CRM has been fixed, ive been told. It somehow managed to kill the spark plug which i find odd because it was paractically a new plug...? But ive been told that somebody's previously botched the wiring to the kill switch and its been engaging itself (thats been bipassed and resoldered now), the carb has been adjusted which has apparently fixed the high revs, however that is something which has been done twice before so only time will tell.

I Picked the bike up today and been out on a short ride for the first time since september without it breaking down, it rides like it should now. The engine gaskets were fine, it was just the air control screw on the carb which had been wound all the way in (not by me) and was causing it to rev stupidly high, the fuel wasnt getting through the filter and the pipe was perished so now it just has a straight pipe from the tank to the carb. The only actual 'fault' though was the kill switch which i was told kept earthing out and shut the engine off
I need to have the 2stroke oil pipe and radiator pipe replaced though, which is no biggie but both are starting to leak

for the 2 stroke oil pipes i went ti pirtek , they had the right internal bore pipe for the larger pipe that went from the frame to the 2 stroke oil pump but the external size was slightly larger so a made the hole in the oil pump housing on the crankcase larger , they didn't have a pipe a close size to the smaller pipe so for that pipe that goes from the 2 stroke oil pump to the carb inlet rubber i popped into halfords & found diesel spill of pipe that was the same size i sure it was this http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/ ... e-vauxhall
