motard advice

Post by madmanreevo » 22 Aug 2010, 12:12

OK my lovely rebuilt CRM hant been used much offroad, as bro inlaw sold his crm so no buddy at mo.
THe only problem i have is forks, so i need to get rechromed and anodised, then its perfect.

however Im booked for IOM next year bought a van so gonna chuck GF's ZX6R and CRM in back.
So ive decided to Motard the crm for the IOM trip.
been offered pair of wheels polished rims, stainless spokes on OEM hubs with wavey disc front standard rear for £475.
other option is buy rims (as i have spare hubs) get them laced with stainless and buy discs...anyone anyidea of wainwright prices??
RIMS on rebuilt wheels are: 17 x 2.5 front and 17 x 3.0 what tyre sizes can i fit? and what are good sticky tyres?
also biggest problem is to move caliper, can i buy a bracket off the shelf or will i have to get one made?
cheers MMR

Sizes are a bit narrow, really you need 17x3.00 and 17x3.50 ( or 17x4.00 ) tyre sizes 110-70-17 and 130-70-17, getting 32 hole rear rims seems hard lately, for the front brake you can use the standard size or with an XR250/400/650 caliper extender you can use a 320mm,talon do one,

Are 17x4.00 the biggest rims you can get away with for the rear wheel? There seem a lot of 4.50 and 5.00 rims on eBay.

Wheelright had these wheels listed on eBay as a commercial seller along with other wheel and wheel accessory listings. I haven't seen that seller on eBay for a few months.

I think, but I'm not sure, that the business was listed as UK based and buyers were suprised to have parcels arrive from the Far East. I may be corrected on this.
