Ive bought some Renthal goodies.

And ive finished painting the rear mudguard, its had countless coats of satin black and about 4 coats of lacquer. im really happy with the finish... I can see my face in it

Thats down to the sheer amount of paint i used on the thing ...that paintjob was a bit of a ball ache actually because initially the paint reacted quite badly so i had to layer up on the coats but reprime and sand it in between applications. I went through half a pack of halfords wet and dry on it alone! Its a real nice finish though, and the quantity of coats means i was able to sand out all the scratches and stone chips. its also turned out quite reflective as im sure you can tell. Should be durable too once it hardens fully

The Nissin brakes are off the bike and have been stripped down




the bleed nipple though is seized in nicely and because its made of cheese, the nut has been rounded off in an attempt to remove it. all i can think of is to apply some heat and force on a smaller socket. otherwise its a new calliper


id like to keep the original lever really but it is looking tatty and the rubber on the master cylinder is starting to perish

get yourself a braided hose i think they're between £30-40 , master cylinder should be fine but if you do want to sort out the rubber boot the part number is 45504-410-003 and they're just under £10 for an O.E.M one or you can try some where Like Leisure Trail and ask Tom how much an aftermarket one is i know M&P do a kit for £20ish . You may want to buy newer calipers i'm sure the nissins were used on a lot of bikes but not sure what fits what so it would take some digging around

I have already (see last update ) new calipers is what im worried about because i dont know what fits or not, i dont really want to have new brackets fabricated. The better option would be to service these and have them powdercoated but its a matter of getting that bleed nipple out and a new one in

Have you come across brake banjo bolts with integrated bleed nipple? Not the neatest solution to a seized original nipple but functional

I havent seen one before, no. But im assuming it replaces the standard banjo bolt and allows you to bleed the brake from the end of the hose?

yup, exactly as you described sean.
Can be a bit difficult getting the last bubbles of air out when bleeding because the standard nipple is usually placed at the highest point of the caliper so that any bubbles rise up through t'nipple & so with the banjo replacement nipple you may need to unbolt the caliper & rotate it a bit to get the new nipple to the top.

I managed to get the bleed nipple out this morning and ive taken the calipers down to the powdercoater for paint. Thanks for the tips

im not even sure this one is worth an update but i have the pictures so here it is....

24 years of rust and dirt on the rear wheel cams lets the look of the shiny swingarm down, i wanted to get them shot and powdered but i thought the pressure of the wheel nuts might cause the powder coat to crack, so i did it myself instead


i got an 80's makita drill for jobs like this, i put a wire head on it and grinded the cams down to good metal




i got the sandpaper/wet n dry out and my girlfriend wanted to help, so i did one and she did the other. teamwork! She actually seemed quite proud of herself

in the hands of my new assistant...


i used heat dispersant engine paint because you can apply it thin without primer and it still dries hard

Im looking for one of those stickers for the speedometer that converts it from kmh to mph, does anyone know where i can get one?? Cheers
