i will give him a ring after christmas. you woulda thought he'd be on here if they are a CRM specialist....

anyway,i got the Nissin calipers back from the powdercoater this morning, they are painted in the same 3001 shade of red as the subframe. Now for the fun bit of poking out the piston holes and de-burring off the edges


will post some better daylight pics if i ever get a day off work, such an event doesnt seem likely at the minute

You'll find most people working in the bike trade hate forums , my wife worked in bike shops for the last 23 years and when we visit and I ask them about forums most are very negative , also on the other bike forum I'm on we have site sponsors and when the put offers up people tend to say "I can get it cheaper at . . . . " or "that product is crap" or argue with them about stuff

I see... a lot of forums are filled with snobby and bitchy middle aged blokes who just scour the forum looking for an argument to start. This one attracts such a niche crowd that you dont see it here, the downside though is that this forum Is so quiet

Hey Sean I'm on www.Yamahar.co.uk & it's a brilliant laugh , lots of pee taking banter , I've met a lot of the regulars but it's funny as there's not a click on there just like there isn't one here . They do forum track day / meet ups , plenty of info too

I should be at the pub sinking a few festive pints but im still waiting for the misses, so heres a quick update...

i had the nissin calipers powdercoated in the same 3001 shade of red as the rear subframe...




i couldnt reuse the old bleed nipples so i bought new and red dust caps to match...

Im really pleased how well these calipers turned out, and once they are set up with the red HEL hoses they're gonna make a huge difference to the look of the bike....





....And so ive ended up with three brake lever/masters, the top one being the original, which is quarter a century old and i think with its straight bladed lever it looks ancient. its in shitty condition as well, The rubber inside the master cylinder has perished and broken, bolts are seized and it would be a shame to put that back onto new renthal bars. I bought the chinese cnc master off ebay to replace it, I was drawn in by the cheap price and the red bits i guess but you guys here convinced me that using a chinq master cylinder wasnt such a good idea, and i scrapped the idea of fitting that and bought a Nissin unit which is from a 2013 Honda CB500. I thought at least i know what im buying, quality wise




I did a swap-over on the levers but Im not sure it looks 'right' somehow. I think these levers are what id expect to see people fit on small engined sports bike like the cbr125 or yamaha yz but the nissin lever was far too long for what is essentially a motocross bike. I was thinking first of all about cutting it down and rounding off the end using a vice and a dremel....

Sean i'm not keen on the red calipers but . . . i think they'll look great on your SM , i bought some after market leavers from leisure trail & am quite happy with the look length , i'll have to dig them out & take a pick if i can remember .
your CRM will look great when its done
