Re: 1991 MK2 CRM Supermoto Project
Cheers jompy...
I put the rest of the bike together tonight, All slotted together apart from the last piece, the seat The tank seems to be fitted in the right position but the bolts on the rear of the seat dont seem to line up with the frame. More fettling tomorrow i think.

Re: 1991 MK2 CRM Supermoto Project
Assuming a lot of you guys here probably know more about these bikes than i do, i could use a bit of help
ive put the side panels and seat back on and im noticing that the seat doesnt sit flush with the tops of the panels and the two bolt holes which mount the seat also dont quite line up with the treads on the subframe. Ive tried to make the panels and seat sit better yet no luck because everything appears (to me) to be fitted correctly
does anybody have any suggestions?
right side
left side
cheers

I have a Mk3 but am wondering whether you have fitted the front of the seat correctly. There are two rectangular loops on the sub frame into which two "protrusion" on the seat base fit. If the seat base is sitting on top of these loops then it could result in the gap....
Re: 1991 MK2 CRM Supermoto Project
thanks andrew. It was exactly that, the seat was sat on top of them... I spent over an hour wrestling with it last night for it to turn out to be something so simple and it slotted together properly in about 20 seconds this morningandrew19 wrote:I have a Mk3 but am wondering whether you have fitted the front of the seat correctly. One step forward, two steps back... i fitted the seat and all the plastics but the red frame on the sides, connecting to the white main frame looked 'a bit much' so i removed the frame so that i could paint the tubes black where you can see them under the side panels
i sanded the lacquer back with 400 grit paper and gave them four coats of primer
three coats of gloss black, no lacquer...

More bits an pieces....
From left to right: '92 CRM guards, UFO guards for 90-98 CR, 2006 CRF guards but restickered... i took a chance with the CRF guards not really knowing whether they'd fit but all 3 models are similar and pretty much interchangable with a little persuasion. they still need to be trimmed down to fit the supermoto tyres

Looking good Sean, I've got a supermoto one too
Do the subframes just bolt on and off?
Mine is looking a bit worse for wear and could do with rubbing down and paint

Yeah its only held on with 3 bolts, once you remove those and disconnect the tail light sensor it comes away easilly from the bike
*edit: and theres a couple bolts that hold the airbox in place...

Re: 1991 MK2 CRM Supermoto Project
If anyone else is thinking of buying spoke wraps dont bother!! ive spent the past hour and a half trying to fit the things and ive so far managed three, theyre a pain in the fucking ass. Im gonna match the colour of the spokes and try touching up where the anodising has worn off instead.... I have a mountainbike with an anodised turquoise frame and for that i used nail varnish on the scratches which worked really well so i'll give that a go

Re: 1991 MK2 CRM Supermoto Project
apparently grease the spokes then open the ends with a screwdriver to slide on.
