18/03/16: I repainted the exhaust pipe again using VHT flameproof paint this time, but doing it properly with primer and curing in between coats. The paint apparently withstands upto 1100 degree (centegrade) heat but the the useless sh!t lasted a matter of days before it started to bubble up and flake on the header
The paint on the silencer held up nicely though due to the lack of heat towards the rear, but i gave up on the front pipe and spent 200 quid on a shiny new DEP one! thank you leisure trail

the brake and gear pedals were starting to look worse for wear, they were raw uncoated steel so i painted them a while ago with chrome spray paint. it done the job for a while but wasnt really sufficient. the gear lever also had to be hammered back into shape
Image

gloss black again
Image

the generator cover looked 'OK, ish from a distance but it was starting to discolour like a 20 year old SNES
Image

some sanding and a few coats of plastic primer/satin black later...
Image

i also bought some stainless rear wheel cams as mine are starting to flake and rust again. these are from the original honda africa twin but i see no reason why they shouldnt fit
Image

new sump and exhaust protectors

fitted this and bolted the pipe to the bike. its improved the sound giving it a much clearer 'pinger' note, i guess all the carbon build up inside the old pipe was muffling that 2stroke noise.. not to mention the improvement in looks :D 8-)

they sure do, it sounds more 'two strokey' now... Hopefully it should improve performance a little as well

23/5/16

The wheels were the last part of the bike i wanted to change, and they turned out to be a long process so they got left until last. the red wheels looked ok in the pictures but they had started to fade, the rear being worse than the front, and the spokes were a mess. After looking at the bike in person you would say the wheels let the bike down.

i had the rims shot blasted and powdercoated gloss black by the same guy who did my rear sub frame.

the spoke wraps i bought months ago were used because they could be slid onto the ends of the spokes

the wheels had new silver nipples fitted because the red ones were faded almost pink and several were rounded off... I laced the wheels up myself and paid somebody to true them for me
Image

ive wanted to change the gold sprocket ever since i bought this bike. as part of a red colour scheme it looked sh*t
Image

I dropped 2 teeth off the rear, to make it better for the road. it should take some of the snappiness out of the acceleration and lengthen the first 2 gears
Image

And Its finished! :D ....will have to get out and take some better pictures soon, but it looks as good as i could of hoped, the wheels make the bike look much cleaner and newer

thanks to RPA/ Bristol Motorcycle Powdercoating, Charlie's bikes, and GB Motocross for their work :BB

Looks fantastic. I'm a big fan of black wheels and black frames.
The escort looks tidy too.
