Hi from another Newbie
Hi from another Newbie
Hi all, just picked up a mk2.2 (I think thats right?) 1993. Can't wait to get out on some trails/enduros after giving up MX a couple of years ago to get a Ninja. But that had to go as I just can't resist twisting the throttle and being a family man now it had to go before I did!
Only done about 10 miles on the CRM so far just on the road but really wanna go off road, are there many of you guys round worcester way at all?
I have a rediculous question that I forgot to ask the owner, here goes, is there any form of 2 stroke oil level indicator? I know theres a light but obviously as Ive only just got the bike I dont know whether it works so i just wana see how much oil is in there at the mo! My other concern is when I do start to put my own oil in as opposed to whatever is in there now is what are the implications of mixing brands of oil?
Thanks in advance, feel free to take the pee for my stupid question, and hope to be able to get to ride out with some of you in the near future, Cheers, Aidan

Re: Hi from another Newbie
there is a sight tube on the frame but when its at the bottom of it theres loads of oil left in the frame,it may be wise to drain the oil out and refill with your own choice oil ,while its draining you could also check to see if the warning light works
Im thinking about a bike with more valves than a powervalve

It should be ok as I didnt drain it completely so in a way it was just like topping up?
I rode the bike to MOT and back today with no probs anyway. Do you think it's gona be ok or could it still be at risk?

As A precaution some people remove the black non see through pipe running from the pump to the inlet spigot on the manifold, and replace it with some clear pipe, the reasoning being obvious.
Did you're oil low light come on whilst the oil level was that low, or didn't you start her?

No unfortunately it was too late at night so will check when it gets a bit lower and start it. So just to clarify I would let it start draining then start bike up and wait to see if the light comes one while its running and draining at same time? And as long as I dont ever let it drain completely I won't get an air lock?
Cheers for your help by the way people much appreciated, its all a leraning curve!!
Def gona change the pipe for clear too..top tip mate.
