just got a mk1, with aftermarket exhaust, bog standard apart from that and ready to go... does anyone know any routes around leicestershire area?

Ill show yous round ,i wont give you a list of them though as they are all in me ead!!come along any Sunday and ...........dont let "the Hill"put you off ,it only hurts a while!!!you need money for fuel and rock up with a full tank ,i dont charge owt just ride n enjoy ,no lunatic riding and remember "fail to prepare .....prepare to fail" dont come on a rat bike its not fair to others to have to wait while running repairs of the sort you could have done at home are carried out,evryone waits at the end of a trail for last man ,evryone does "gates" except those on feckin KTMs with knackered stands,saying that one lad (Luke)is in there every week leaning it against trees/posts etc ...top man!!try it ,youll like it

took the bike out yesterday to seaton area near the viaduct, bike felt great, found a few ramps along a dtch and managed to get airbourne (fun).
bike broke down near home, hopefully it was just out of fuel, but i switched to reserve and couldnt get it going. it turned over but was very stiff (hope i havnt bought a nail). anyways i will have a good look in the morning and see whats what.
thanks garyd i will ring when i have a free sunday and hopefully not bottle out!!

Good luck with repair ,make sure its reliable we do lots o miles and you wont be needin the airbourne tricks ha ha !

ok i wont start a new thread, cant find anywhere for repairs!

HELP REQUIRED PLEASE??

i tried to kick the bike this morning and its solid. the kickstart ratchet has started slipping to boot. i took the bike out the other day and it was great. it started first kick most times (needed an almighty kick to be fair). i did 60 miles max, i was nearly home and bike spluttered to a halt, it felt like it was out of fuel so i switched to reserve but the bike would not start and it felt very stiff. i then noticed the 2 stroke tank was about empty. i had filled it to the brim before i left. is it normal to empty the 2 stoke tank in 60 miles??

anyway its solid now, so is it ceased? is there a manual decompression on the bike to make kicking easier?

any help would be much appreciated, its been years since iv worked on bike engines and even longer for 2 strokes so must admit to beiing a novice. i also noticed the bike has the power valve diconnected and all fittings are missing, the swine didnt tell me that when i bought the bike!

Bad news
The chances are your piston is seized in the bore.
Most likely is the bore will be scored so you will need a rebore and new piston.

Thought as much, and I meant seized not ceased!
I was planning to run the bike through the winter and then refurb next summer, looks like I will be undertaking a winter project....

could be siezed but if its used over a liter of two stroke in 60 miles (miles too much )if its running constantly pump jammed open :?: or seal gone :?: it could be hydraulically locked . Drain the oil out via the sump plug and measure it if there is loads of oil too much it points to 2 stroke contamination , it may also be an odd colour i.e gear oil tinted with the colour of your 2 stroke oil . just a thought and alot cheaper than taking the top off

its been pointed out to me that when the 2 stroke level is at the bottom of the sight tube that it in fact still 3/4 full, so i dont think i had used all that much oil. i did check the gearbox oil level and it was the same as before it seized. but if it had hydrolically locked, what would be the solution?

Hydraulic locking isn't possible given your oil status unless you had just gone through water. Results can be really bad but I don't think that is what has happened.
