Hello and happy new year! John from manchester. 1991 crm 250
Hi all, came across your forum after buying my mk2 crm 250 a few days ago, and must compliment on the wealth of information on here so thank you.
Not ridden a bike in nearly 10 years and the last bike I had was a gsxr slingshot.
Wanted to start riding again but didn't know which bike to choose, very nearly bought a Kdx 200 but saw my crm in a ad and fell in love with it. Was a bit concerned at first at how cheap it was. Paid £700 and the bike was in good nick considering age expected to find something serious wrong but still can't find anything so very happy with the purchase..
Anyway just wanted to say hi and I'm hoping to have plenty of discussions in the future.
All the best

Welcome to the forum if all seems well check the swing arm bolt , it seems to be an overlooked item with some crm owners
Im thinking about a bike with more valves than a powervalve

Hi John, welcome to the world of CRM... I paid roughly the same for my MK2 some 2 years ago off Eblag and have (touch wood) only had the odd puncture to deal with... my friend has a KDX and believe me you wont be disappointed you opted for the CRM instead. This forum has a wealth of knowledge and if you are up for a bit of traveling there are those that will invite you for a ride out or two. All the best and a Happy New Year.

Re: Hello and happy new year! John from manchester. 1991 crm 250
Thank you for the warm welcome *back off road* and *ukgraydog*.
I overlooked that on first inspection back off road so will be checking a bit later on in the day regarding the swing arm bolt.
I'm glad I chose the crm ukgraydog, I'm hoping to learn a lot about my bike and me as a rider.
Being new to these kind of bikes my only concern is the service intervals and I have this fear that the engine may give up as I have no clue what mileage the bike is, the bike sounds fine with no rattles or nasty vibrations. There is some previous mots with the bike, dates back to 2004 at 9955 miles then changes to 10850 in 2005. 1291 in 2006 (change of clocks) missing 2007 then straight to 2008 12268 miles. 2009 12373 miles. Suddenly changes to km now reads 12935 km,thinking this might be down to the mot station clocking in km rather than in miles and finally last year in August it was recorded 15468km so going off this it's got at least 20.000 miles on and no receipts stating a rebuild, only small amounts from leisure trail.
So needless to say I'm a little worried about engine wear but like I said its seems fine but then again I'm not exactly an expert just a competent DIY'er.
Anyway sorry for the rant thanks again for the welcome. Will post a pic of my bike later on today.
Regards
John

Hi John,
If your bike sounds ok, doesnt smoke excessively and goes well, then all should be well.
Just change the gear oil and use some decent 2 stroke oil and all will be well.

Hi, HCJ, welcome to the site, that bike starts well, which is always welcome, and she sounds sweet as a nut.Without any provenance, it's best to go by what it looks and sounds like.

Thanks for your comments. Mike, I was told that the best way to judge was to see how she sounds and looks but I think I starting to doubt my own thoughts but I feel reassured with all ur kind comments. Twistednuts I think I probably will need a hand or at least some advice in the future for sure as my mechanical knowledge is some what limited but u all seem very nice people on here and I thank you for taking the time to read my post.
John7780 sounds like you got your hands full with that mx club, I wanted to take my bike on some kind of mx track, nothing too hardcore, not experienced in that kind of racing or terrain but would love to learn. Where is your club? I did a bit of research and the local ones to me are Astley and Wigan and I believe maybe in Bolton but not contacted anyone or sure where they are yet. Green laning would be great also, I found a website which was through this forum called the trail fellowship which I will almost definitely be enquiring.
Your not to far away from me so that is very handy.
Thanks again guys

Great site that John, had a good look watched some videos and your priced very reasonable if people are looking to rent aswell. How does it work with fees do we just pay into the forum? Opening days and hours?
Could use a good practise ground and your track looks ideal for what I want
Thanks

Re: Hello and happy new year! John from manchester. 1991 crm 250
thanks mate, we try our best you just pay the 12 month membership fee online then email a face pic with your phone number, full name and personal email then each time you wish to ride give me a ring and ill ensure that the land owner or myself is around to take the track fee and let you on the track, we also have a meeting venue every thursday at the travellers call in bredbury at 7pm and just for the lads on here the amca have offered us an option of moto-enduro 0which is like an easy version of enduro should anyone be intersted get down to our meets and we can have a chat

Sounds good mate. Will definitely be looking to come and have a ride in the near future. Just want to get bike perfect, having a few teething problems regarding my clutch and also want to get some indicators on the bike because I'm used to road riding I feel quite vulnerable without indicators so going to get some.
