Hello from Japan

Hi everyone. I'm an American living in Japan who recently bought a CRM 250R. I was told that it was a 98, but I know it isn't. Is there a way to get the exact year so I can find the right parts? Also, it seems that no one in the states has heard of a Honda CRM 250R, just a Honda CR 250R. Are these the same thing, and if so, are the part interchangable? It's amazing how little information there is about the CRM.

Anyway, I look forward to hanging out here and learning about my new bike.

Jim

EDIT: Browsing through the site, I came across this picture which looks EXACTLY like my bike. Graphics and all. The image is small, but maybe it'll help.

You have what looks liks a Mark 2, a quick way to tell is if the 2 stroke oil goes in the frame it is a mk2, if not it is a mk3, there is a bit of a cult following of the crm's in japan, do a search on google, you will find details of the 'ghosts garage' that is a good place to start.

Also look on the leisuretrail website for info, they are based in the uk and specialise in the CRM's

The CR is the motocross model and most parts are not interchangable, however most of the running gear is similar to the XR400.....

You can still get a fair bit of tuning parts over there so best of luck

All the best

If the graphics are even the same then my friend, you have a CRM250R Mk.2/2

It had different graphics to the Mk.2 and also a couple of very minor tweaks like slightly different footrests, coloured fenders, etc. They were only available between 1993-1994, between the Mk.2 ending and the Mk.3 coming out

I have a Mk.2/2 and when I compare it to my friend's Mk.2 you can't really see any differences?

Make sure you get the .pdf manual, PM me if you want it for free as some people are selling it on ebay!!!

You're in the right place for spares though, they have loads out there in Japan but often refer to it by it's model code too, this was MD24?

What type of business? Exporting parts? I'm plannong on taking a trip to one of the motorbike franchises around here that apparently fixes these things. If they have a lot of stuff on the shelf, maybe I'll post and see if anyone is interested in anything.

That was the idea Jim, from info found on web the parts are a lot cheaper there but the shipping is the hardest part. May be you could get some prices on certain bits add some postage a few beer tokens for yourself and see if its worth while.

Hello. Nice ya got a CRM. It may not be be clear abt the release data cuz the passport year is the one ur moto had been first time registered. Maybe It's 1996.
Anyways, get sure whether it's a Mk2 not Mk3.
  I'm hangign out in Russia - far from UK or Japan. I get japanese parts for my CRM-2 mostly after BDS or ARAI second-hand bazars in Japan. Maybe In Moscow secondhand shops.
If U need a manual - the one on this site is praps the most detailed I've ever seen in all search systems. Anyways I consult techies when havin problems, but thanks god it's not abt my new CRM.
Good luck, cool ride, 8) best speed!
