Newbie from South Africa

Hey guys! I've been looking at getting an off-road 'toy' for weekends etc and because I've been off bikes for a few years, I thought I'd go with something cheap and easy while I 'find my feet' again (I'll no doubt drop it a few times!). I had to do some research to choose between an old KDX and the CRM250 but finding this site was great - has all the info I needed to make my decision. Did the deal last night on a '94 CRM250R (not sure what the R is for?), being dropped of here this afternoon - can't wait to take it out but it needs a bit of an oil change and cleaning etc which we'll do tomorrow and hopefully take it out Sunday for a bit.
I'm pretty sure it's a MK3 but I'll check the numbers when it gets here later. It looks a bit rough and needs some attention but the motor is good (apparently, and from what I can see) and it was a bargain at the price. I'll post a pic when I figure out how to do it......
Anyway, thought I'd just say 'hi' and thanks. Well done on a really cool & informative site! The only problem I have with it is seeing all the nice, shiny, tricked out bikes some members have - I can see me spending some money making mine look nice again!?!?!?

Welcome.
Just get it dirty and tell everyone it's real shiny underneath ;)

:D Hi welcome, don't worry to much how it looks, getting back from the tumble weeds is more important than looking the king of bling.

Thanks guys. Like I said, I wanted it to play with in the bush etc so wasn't too fussed about looks until I saw some of the re-builds / projects on the forum. I'll fix it up a wee bit, but the main thing is that she runs ok.
The bike arrived yesterday (YAY!), but too late to take her out a bit. I'd post a pic but I can't unless I'm a 'supporter' and donate a couple of bucks etc. which is a bit difficult from here??
Checked the VIN & engine numbers on the papers that came with the bike and it would seem I have a MK2 engine in a MK3 frame according to the info under 'what MK do I have':
Eng. no. ME24E13xxxxxxx
Chassis / Frame no. MD2414xxxxxxx
Oh well, let's see how we go with this.......
