definately sounds like a carburation problem.. just to clarify you should have a 48 pilot and a 128 main jet right?

Need to know more info -

What pilot jet do yopu have?

What position is the needle clip (measured from the top)?

If missing at half throttle. How does it run with full throttle?

Does it respond with the same 'missing at half throttle' when at low end, mid range and top end?

48 pilot,. needle 3rd down,Top end in 4th and the rest is fine and when changing into them,1st gear is really bad as soon as you set of,2nd 3rd is from about half way

Diagnosing these kind of problems is really difficult using 'email'.

Can you confirm that your bike is a Mk2. Please can you give the first three numbers of your engine number 'MD24 ***....?' This can be found at roughly 10 o'clock from the kickstart shaft on a tab coming out of the crankcase.

Where in the country are you?

So you definately have a Mk2.

Sorry too far away  .

Usually jetting needs to go down if it needs changing when an exhaust is fitted. Usually only on the pilot. However I know of at least one person who recently fitted a DEP system and had to go up several sizes. Some searching on here to find out what eventually happened.

You could also take it back to the original setup and drop the needle 1 or 2 grooves just to check if leaning it is the way to go.........

It's probably jetting as you didn't change anything else? Also if it was electrical you would expect the missfiring to be worst at full throttle in high gears when the load on the engine is highest.

I wanted to be certain your bike is a Mk2 as Mk3s and ARs have a gear selector that gives slightly different ignition maps for each gear and this was a possibility that needed eliminating.

well its an interesting one.. with regards to your main jet i'd be inclined to keep the 128 in there for the time being, in fact this afternoon i tried a 132 main jet in my mk2 purely out of interest, and reverted back to the 128 within 5 mins of riding, it didn't wanna know. try it and see what its like. Failing that perhaps your jet needle is worn or indeed bent slightly? Bearing in mind of course your jet needle governs 1/4 - 3/4 throttle so it seems likely its a problem there.

As suggested earlier - take it back to original and drop the needle one or two grooves. See if that is better. If you have a smaller jet try that that BUT only if it is one size smaller.

Have you checked your air screw setting :?: . Shouldn't make that much difference unless it is wildly out but it's good to be correct about these things.
