Yes- very few 2 strokes here & mostly thumpers- WR's, CRF's etc. Nam is a crazy place to ride- the roads are a nightmare, but the jungle, mountains & forests are fantastic places that few people ever get to see- it takes me about an hour and 2 ferry journeys to get to my nearest greenery and always Sunday morning at 6.30 am start, otherwise its too hot. If you fall off and hurt yourself you are buggered- no ambulance is coming to get you! We get a lot heat-stroke victims and people losing bikes in paddy fields & rivers!!! I lost my TTR in a buffalo pond 2 years ago. I ride with groups of up to 30 guys- mostly local, who are super fast, have no fear & technical wizards. -Hare & hounds is virtually impossible, because the buggers are too quick. The CRM is great on the trail, as she starts first kick and is light, but not as fast as other steeds and I worry about running out of petrol on a 60km blast if you are pushing hard. Looking forward to moving somewhere a bit more 1st world- proper roads and decent mechanics!

Plates, no plates, no indicators, no helmet- it really doesn't matter- the cops will still try to nick you and screw you over for a bribe!! All folks here are technically limited to 175cc scooters (so the coppers can catch you on their CM250's or bigger 750's). They didn't factor in guys like us, who can't actually own a vehicle here and can buy anything they want and just rip away from them or pull off road.... Most of these guys only use these machines on weekends, as they are not really commuting tools, although some do...

Fishy- here are some piccies of me lovely bike being rebuilt, to help you out when you do your rebuild. Don't the engine look luverly?? Remember- keep taking pictures. Notice the beer crates? I had to drink all of those before I could use them!! Hic...

Yup- I used a Dremmel hand drill with a porting tool, grind stone and wire brush attachments for most things.

Having done 6 engines in the last few months and they come up lovely not looking like an over polished effort (ask knackeredmk1 he has seen them).

Just use a nylon wheel that is impregnated with abrasive, see item number 180981492054 on ebay, they have numerous sizes.

Always use a lot of WD40 when using the wheel to keep it well lubricated, and make sure you wear old clothes as you will get absolutely covered.

Use the wheel on a hard metal surface for a couple of minutes to break it in and get the bristles to flex in one direction (you can only use it in one direction after breaking in)

The wheel will do 95% of the engine, 5% will need a smaller tool to get in small crevices.

Using a wire wheel on magnesium or aluminum is not really the best solution as it can drag the material.
