Help Buying a CRM please

Post by jayb » 26 Oct 2013, 22:40

Hiya, I'm looking to get a second bike that is more nimble and easier to take on the lanes than my Yamaha XT660Z Tenere. I'm tempted by the CRM250. I've seen one on Ebay that will possibly sell within my budget of £1000.00. My worry is that because its done 30,000Km it will need an engine rebuild soon. Is this the case?

Can you please help?

Kind Regards

Jay

Hi Jay, that's quite a difficult question to answer. A looked after CRM engine is easily capable of that sort of mileage, with the air filter being one of the main service items, and oil every 1000 miles, [ most however change it at 500].
As with any Ebay purchase, "buyer beware".
Is it close enough for you to have a look before you bid?
You are covered by the distance selling rules.
If you use paypal they now have a service where they front up the money, and don't debit your account for two weeks.
This is a fantastic service I have used myself, so if the purchase is not fundamentally as described, and not fit for service you hand the problem over to them to sort out.
