what now!!

Post by ally » 06 Aug 2010, 00:29

Sadly I use my bike mostly for commuting, with the odd day for fun. I do though have the choice with my journey to & from work, the main road or the B road with 3 off roads linking them together, 8 miles eitherway (better to do the off road on the way home) or go in the car if it's p*ssing it down. Anyway apart from a pervy bloke at work offering to take me up the woods for a ride, I don't have anybody to ride with as my hubby doesn't have a bike & it's not much fun riding off road in the pouring rain with a stupid grin on your face if know one esle can see it. I decided to go the supermotard way, looked around for wheels, no chance, talon wheels? bikes too old! New wheels built off olld hubs! Not cheap,(I love my hubby) brought hubs for mk2 from this site (thanks guys) set abt getting wheels built by central wheel components, while the wheels were being built I brought a swingarm, cut off chain gruard fixings ect & polished it, yes with various grades of wet & dry & of tube of autosol. (kids & hubby got hungry) got a rear brake caliper cleaned it up, sprayed it red, brought supermotard front mud fender. got the wheels back, put new bearings in wheels & swingarm (all by myself might I say) had a little help putting the rest back together (well someone had to put the nut on the spindle) anyway this is what it looks like now............

I'm hoping to have ordered some custom graphics from D&D graphics & there are a few more things I wanna do to the bike as & when I have the time & money

This is the mk2 I got on the 06/04/10 looks clean & tidy, needs new chain & sprockets, not a big deal. 3 months MOT, 1 yr tax Full asking price was paid, I was happy :)

What is the headlight cowl you have on there and where did you get it from?

Very nice!

What now you say? Well, you obviously enjoyed doin all that to your bike, so if you want i`ll swap you mine an you can do it all again.. heheee!!

I`ve been thinkin of sumo-ing mine cos i`ve never even been off road on it yet :( Actually its never actually been on road since ive "restored" it cos im strugglin for time to mot it, an cos i have another bike its kinda gettin left out a bit.

How long would it take to swap between off road stylee and sumo. Guess its just changin the wheels and brake caliper is it? That way i can have best of both worlds!

Re the headlight cowl I think it could be a Acerbis headlight by the look and shape of it

Yep the front light cowl is a Acerbis it's just fixed on with 2rubber straps that wrap around the top of the forks. fork guards were on it when I brought it.

Yeah it's a different mud guard, it's a supermotard one made by acerbis.
