1999 CRM250AR Project

I have had a couple of AR's over the years.

I bought my current one around two years ago and for a while just used it as it was.

Since starting my engineering degree at university I've been able to bring my bike in and use it as an extra curricular project.
The project started out with a number of ambitious aims although the primary aim was to give the bike a fresh bill of health.

Slowly but surely it became apparent that the bike needed a fair bit of tlc, electrical gremlins, stuck bolts, leaking seals and worn components couldn't be ignored...it was time to strip the bike down.

Since stripping the bike down I have been keeping busy drawing a number of components in CAD, coming to focus on 3d scanning of the clutch cover and cylinder head.

Just set the frame up ready to fit new yokes & showa ssf forks, adding with mocking up the crf250 swingarm.

The cases in the frame are spares , re original cases have gone for vapour blasting.

Glad to see "bits" being put to good use.

Where are you getting vapour blasting done?

Thanks Andrew, the spares are deffinately coming in handy now.

The vapour is getting done by blastcoat over in Caerleo. Near Newport.

Hopefully should have them back in a week or so.

I would definitely like to pop in and see progress when convenient for you.
Have you still got my phone number?

Just got the engine parts back from vapour blasting.
The pictures don't do these parts justice, they are very clean.

Oh boy. Can someone else tell this guy he is deluded. He does not have an 1998 AR but a Mk2 engine or possibly a Mk1 engine missing the PV controller in what is possibly a Mk2 frame but more likely a 1989 Mk1 ........................

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can lead a horse to water......etc....etc.....

He will realise the error of his ways....one day, especially when he pays 'top dollar' for the wrong parts.
