1991 MK2 project

Post by robmk2 » 27 Nov 2015, 05:44

This is my second mk2, the first one I had was when I was in high school. Missed having one so bought a shitter to restore. Only have one thing left to do and that is freshen up the wheels ( Powder coat rims, re-spoke, sand blast hubs and powder coat gold) I also am going to get a set of motard rims for the bike hence the motard fender. Not much on the bike that isn't new. Has parts from cr250, xr600, crf250, crm125, xr250 and gasgas. Will try attach some photos of start and finish product. http://imgur.com/a/yAdxe http://imgur.com/a/WrXSm

She's looking good.

Few bits missing in photos - like cover to power valve on LHS of barrel.

Will be interested to see before and after photos and read about which parts from the other Honda's you have fitted. :)

Yea power valve is being worked on at the moment...thought it was the cdi that was the problem but turns out the cdi is fine. The valve cover is gold as well. I also don't have the indicators on yet or rear light but have all the parts. The bike was worse than I thought when I got it (bought unseen) to be honest the photos flatter what it used to be like.

Every bearing was rusted out, shock was stuffed (running just on the spring), wiring loom was cut in places and mucked around with, oil pump had been disconnected with parts broken, power valve wasn't going, plastics were cracked and broken, break calipers stuffed, old tank was rusted out to a big hole, silencer was worn down from tire with holes in it...the list goes on. Too many things to remember haha.

New piston and rings put in

Bike has-

Xr600 rear shock ( length is only 3-5mm longer) much better rebound, dampening and stiffer spring.
07 Crf250 break calipers with braided line
Xr250 motard rear guard ( had to trim it down to fit )
1989 cr250 tank ( much lighter and gives the seat a lower profile so you can get up further towards the tank)
Crm125 oil pump parts
Gas Gas front light

It slips right on, the bend in the pipe fits nicely as well, just had to make a small bracket for it. Slight jetting changes recommended, a changed by one or two can't remember would have to go check. I put new braided steel lines on that are the same length as stock. You can fit any lever to any line to any caliper ;)

Nice one may have to get new callipers as my front is awful lol i may be tempted to try a cr silencer if its alot cheaper then a crm one which i have been quoted around 120 maybe a bit cheaper for an fmf powercore 2 i think

What front pipe (expansion) is fitted?

Is it a FMF?
