Anyone fancy rebuilding a caliper for money?
I am lazy and don't want to rebuild the CRM MK2 front and rear caliper.
Was wondering if anyone would kindly like to take the job on for a fee or could recommend somewhere good?

He's done loads of stuff for xrv.org.uk members.
Cheers AlanH, that is just what I need. The biggest hurdle i see is trying to get the piston out, when you dont have access to compressed air

Just take it off its mount and pump the brake till it pops out. Messy but quick
:D Foot pump will do it, just put a thin piece of a wood against the carrier to stop the piston damaging itself.

Now thats something I had not thought of. I just need to work out how to get a air seal from the foot pump to the caliper. Looks like a weekend in the garage for me.

All I did was file down one of those plastic "air bed" adaptors, that normally comes in the spares kit with a new pump.dietcoke wrote:Now thats something I had not thought of. Best to wrap the entire calliper in an old towel, and if at all possible, get someone else on the foot pump, very gently,as you hold the adaptor in place.
NB, on the front calliper, it's essential that one of the two pistons isn't allowed to come fully out, otherwise you will never pressurise the calliper to blow out the remaining piston

Re: Anyone fancy rebuilding a caliper for money?
I prefer my idea, its pretty much the same as yours mike.
No flyin pistons my way, just pump brake till piston/s are almost out, then drain fluid off, take caliper off an pull out the piston with thee finger tips.
