How can i put an age related plate on??

Post by phil » 30 Mar 2005, 11:40

Hi all,
I`ve got a crm 250, which is on a Q plate, i`d like to put it on an age related plate.
My reg document says manufacturing date unknown, but the bike and log book have a frame number so surely a date can be come by from that.
Anyone here registered their crm themselves, if so how did you get proof of the age?

Cheers Phil

Not done this myself but I remember a friend wanting to road register a MX bike, I think you need to go to the Manufacturer (Honda in your case) quote the frame & engine numbers & they should be able to supply a certificate proving its age.
I think from there DVLA may be able to help

if you have the chassis no then find classic services, and pay them to provide a age realted cert (just done this for my YSR and KSR) and i think its about £45
then you can apply to DVLA for an age related plate

Hi Phil,

Before doing anything, check with DVLA, I seem to remember something a couple of years ago where it was made so that once a Q, always a Q......

Regards,

Roger.

I road registered my CRF450 about six months ago, by default you get a Q plate.
I wanted an age related plate, this was for me a two stage process, first write to honda and ask for certificate of manufacture, this meant sending them my frame, engine number and £25.00
Second the bike then had to be inspected by DVLA not an MOT type test just a look to confirm numbers match Honda supplied certificate.
Then DVLA issued me with an 03 plate.
