Hi Guys, i`ve owned a mk1 CRM for the last 12mths which has proved to be an outstanding bike for green laning & on road use, but i have a problem with chain rattle, the chain is the right tension and i`ve changed the rubber guide on the top of the swing arm.I have read some where that the mk1 is renowned for this problem, but what is causing the rattle and is there a simple cure?

Hi Mr Dactil
Welcome to the site
Its not just the mk1’s that are renowned for a bit of chain slap……as far as I know they all do it especially on the over run?
I think it says somewhere on the forum that the rubber chain guide off an AR(which is a slightly different design to the mk1’s, 2’s & 3’s) can help?
Also...how old is your chain?? if its worn out and stretched a bit, it will make the rattle noice worse.
Failing that........just give it more ‘berries’ so you can’t hear it anymore!!!
Steve.

Hi Terry is the chain rattle mainly when your in too high of a gear low revs and open the throttle, by knocking it down a cog and whacking open the throttle cures it ?

Hi
This is how i stoped mine doing it cant say if it will help or not but mine has never done it since.
Remove front sprocket cover ther is a metal chan guide .
Fit this in first make sure its between the outer links and over the roller of the chain.
now hold that in place and fit plastic cover over and bolt in place .
As said its stoped mine and now sounds ace .
The front sprocket has slight movment in it and i found this is what makes the rattle when at slow speed in high gear as sprocket moves about more.
Hope this helps..
Great site keep up the good work..
