They are standard pads that can be bought from any bike dealer.
For road riding or hard pack stuff I would take the chance with the cheaper pads as they should give reasonable wear.

For the trail riding I do I stick to EBC gold now. I tried some cheap ones and wore a disk out when they went down to metal on the second ride.

Some pads wear out very quickly when covered in mud, even the EBC - red (enduro) did not last long.

It might also be cheaper for you to get a XR400 98 front disc and increase your options too

they are the same size and fitment as the CRM MK3 (thanks for that usefull infirmation Knackered) it's

helped me with my Motard project, I also own a MK3

All CRM discs are exactly the same size as XR400 discs.

I looked at one site that had a different disc listed for the rear of the CRM to the XR 400 and it was saying the CRM disc is 4mm thick with

a minimum thickness of 3mm , I straight away checked my rear disc and it was the sizing listed for the XR 5mm thick with a minimum of

4mm so Knackered is right, it's a pitty the some people selling this stuff online dont know the true sizing of there own product's
